Book Description

Oct 2009

"I sometimes call animals - dogs and cats particularly - guardians of being. Dogs fill a vital function in the collective consciousness of humanity... they show us what we have lost and, once we realise that, they can help us in our shift into a deeper state of consciousness." - Eckhart Tolle

From bestselling author and visionary Eckhart Tolle comes this wonderful, enlightening and inspiring work on the importance of dogs and cats not just as pets, but as guides, guardians and beloved friends. Richly illustrated by Patrick McDonnell, creator of Mutts, Guardians of Being shows us that not only can we rely on our pets to help us, but that though their partnership, we can gain a deeper understanding of the universe and its love, as well as ourselves.

Through this extraordinary exploration of our relationship with animals, Tolle demonstrates that our relationship with the animals we know and care for is not simply a bond of love, but a spiritual one too, transcending words to form an uplifting, enlightening experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Priceless! 20 Oct 2009
The collaboration between renowned author Eckhart Tolle and
illustrator Patrick McDonnell is a match made in heaven. Together
they created a book that is a fun, easy read that was simply delightful.
The illustrations, both beautiful and whimsical, combined with Eckart
Tolle's words are priceless. It is doubtful once you pick this book up
and start reading it, you will be able to put it down.

Another book that's priceless and impossible to put down is titled,
Being Here: Modern Day Tales of Enlightenment
by award winning authors Ariel & Shya Kane. Check out both of them!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a gem! 7 Dec 2009
I received it as a gift and read it when I was really frustrated and annoyed and I could not help but laugh out loud. I really enjoy walking and being outdoors, watching birds and let them sit on my hand and pick some food; walking the neighbours dogs and watch them running and having fun. It is amazing and astounds me every time how much beauty is just around us, we only have to take the time to see it and let it in. This book will remind me on rainy, ugly days that there is more to life than thinking and worrying about things that may never come true anyway.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Gift 20 Aug 2010
This is the greatest gift I've ever received from a client. I love it and so does my Lakeland Terrier called Shady!

Eckhart and Patrick explain the inner purpose of life in such a fun, loving and simple manner that you can read it without at first noticing the power that lies within the wonderful drawings and between the insightful words. ...The great thing is that a deeper part of you has fully understood.

This book is a must for anyone who loves cats, dogs and nature as well as anyone who wants to find a simple way to simply Be and live NOW.

5.0 out of 5 stars A beautiful distillation of Tolles previous work 19 Jan 2010
If you are familiar with Eckhart tolle's books you will find this a delightful and humourous distillation of previous work.
It focusses mainly on our relationship to animals, mostly dogs and reminds us how to access the now when we can so easily lose touch.
I read this book 2 days before xmas after putting my back out, rushing about. I was stuck on the floor for several hours. It took only 5 -10 minutes to read.Half way through I was smiling and laughing to myself. Of course, now what was it that was so important!?
If you have one book in your loo, this is a must. You can open the book on any page and take that one thought through the day with you.
If you love dogs ,or animals this is for you!

5.0 out of 5 stars Guardians of Being 9 Oct 2009
By Tami Brady TOP 500 REVIEWER
We could learn a lot from our pets. Cats can spend hours perfectly relaxed in the warmth of a beam of light. Dogs are always fully present when they play. Cats and dogs live in the moment and are always fully present. They don't doubt themselves or question their value. It is for this reason that they are the Guardians of Being.

Guardians of Being is written by Eckhart Tolle, author of The Power of Now and A New Earth. His words are then accompanied by illustrations by Mutts creator Patrick McDonnell. It's a wonderful combination, creating a comic book look with real meaning. No doubt readers will find a variety of pages that resonate and inspire them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Guardians teview 19 Oct 2011
By Cyn
Guardians of being is an amusing, wonderful, uplifting book that is not patronising.
It connects people to 'being in the now' rather than worrying about the past and future and thinking all the time.

This book is great for sad people, sick people and those fortunate enough to be well but are interested developing as people and learning how to 'be in the now'. It is cheerful, restful and therapeutic.
