Made from stainless steel to last a lifetime and without any plastic parts that might eventually break, this is amazing value for money when you consider that many plastic models go for £50; so this one ought to be selling for something like £80. It's manufactured in China and distributed through a company called Grunwerg Sheffield in the UK.

There are no instructions (very annoying) but the box has tiny pictures that give you an idea of how to use it. It comes with a skewer and single, removable 'spaghetti' blade (note carefully the position of this before you remove it for cleaning as there is no helpful leaflet to tell you how to fit it back) and a suction system that holds really well to my kitchen worktop (press down hard and then move the latch). A quick-release latch allows you to move the threaded handle up and down instantly. Once again, a steel latch and spring ensure a quality mechanism.

As with all machines, if you're new to using one then you'll need to learn how it works and what it works best with. So don't give up too soon after buying one if you don't immediately get perfect results.

Having said that, this spiralizer has a design flaw; the comb-like blade doesn't stay in place after fitting but has a tendency to pop out. It manages to stay in place during cutting but it's an annoying flaw in an otherwise nice product. I returned my original device to Grunwerg Sheffield and they quickly replaced it for me, but the replacement also had the same defect. A friend of mine who bought this spiralizer also had the same problems with the blade popping out. He wasn't sure how to fit the blade properly so I created a video showing him how to fit it:

It is more like a toy cutter. I am now buying a better version elsewhere. Even in there own video the potato is not cutting correctly.

See video at 1m 21sec as this happens nearly every time

From the photographs this piece of kit looks as if it might be sturdy. That was the reason I chose it over the other plastic models. That is not the case. It is very small and cheaply made. The parts fit very poorly together and fall apart repeatedly during normal use. It is the sort of thing I would expect to be sold illicitly from a back alley market.

I might have forgiven the awful product quality, had it actually been able to create vegetable ribbons at all. When I finally tried it out on a courgette, after spending a while assembling all of the wobbly bits and replacing parts that persistently fell off, it shredded it up and produced lots of little half-moon wedges of varying thickness. The spiral setting, while it at least creates a continuous strand, is also useless. The blade was bent and had a big dent in, so the spirals were of uneven thickness and much too thick at that.

Honestly, this product is not of any quality at all, and I can't stress enough how much you should consider a different model. It is a waste of time, as you'll just be sending it straight back for a refund, as I am.

I've not only wasted my time, but also a perfectly good courgette. Very disappointed, and I will be buying a different model as soon as I can.

I use this to make courgette (zucchini) spaghetti, among other things. It is well thought out, sturdy, and much better than its plasticky, easily breakable counterparts. It did not come with instructions, but I figured it all out quite easily, and was especially happy with the lever which allows the slicer to suction itself to the kitchen counter. It's easy to rinse clean, and the blades are strong and very sharp. The skewering rod to hold the item being sliced in place is also perfect. It's an awkward shape to store, so I just cut a hole in the box to let the handle stick out, and keep everything in there. Totally recommended.

I really don't understand some of the other reviews, and wonder if they are for a different version of the product. Ours is fine:
- it works well
- it is simple to understand and use
- it includes instructions with clear pictures
- it is sturdily built
- the blade is easy to unclip and reclip
- the suction foot works fine
I can't find anything wrong with it at all. In fact it's rather good.

Totally mashed up everything I tried to put through it. Parts were rusty and blunt. Awful, avoid!

A very well made product, that does an admirable job. The clamp for the comb cutter is very stiff so is not easy to fit, but maybe because it is new. I would liked to have seen slightly clearer instructions, perhaps with words as the picture grams were not clear. I would also liked to have seen a recipe idea sheet, then it would be used more I am sure; however do not despair, there are recipe ideas on an internet search. It does fit together and it does work. I suggest you try deep fried potato nests with a poached egg, the missing instruction is to was and thoroughly dry the potato before frying :-)
