The main thing I was concerned about when choosing a potato ricer was the amount of potato passing through the sides of the paddle. I thought most ricers would produce a smooth consistency potato, but some I had seen in shops looked like there was quite a gap between the paddle and the sides of the potato ricer. I was not dissapointed with how smooth a consistency of potato this ricer produced. Whilst there was a little potato sliding between the paddle and the sides, it was so little it really was not a problem. Any one looking for an easy to use potato ricer which produces a smooth mash, whilst not allowing masses of potato past the paddle, and comes apart for easy cleaning, or if you are lazy like me put it into the dish washer, will not be dissappointed with this product. 5 stars from me.

I bought this product after having had problems with the OXO Good Grips Potato Ricer I bought from Amazon. While it gave gorgeously fluffy mash, too much potato would pass back over the plunger, requiring much awkward scraping and re-ricing. The Grunwerg Commercial Grade (read Industrial grade - it looks very chunky!) ricer has a very small amount of this blowing back. It also has a greater capacity than the Oxo model and comes apart completely for easy cleaning. It produces the same fluffy mash, so all in all an excellent product.

This was a gift to our son-in-law,who is an amateur cook and had been unable to find an equivalent product elsewhere.He is very happy with it.

Overated
Still needs hand mashing after using the ricer as it is still grainy. Not easy to use. Easy to catch your fingers in. Hard to push the potaoes through. Read more
