Has a lot more than it says!, 31 Aug 2007
Firstly I didnt realise it was a completely new line product, but as my parents asked for a digital and dvd tv for their bedroom I ordered this. I am very impressed with it, though this is the first lcd tv I ve bought. The extra features were incredible, it can also play divx, and all sorts media (that I tried putting in), it has a usb connection so you can connect your memory stick and view photos & videos, a monitor connection, an sd/mmc card connection which can be used to view photos as a slide show straight from the digital camera memory card! The sound is good, and the remote is easy to use, and it took me less than five minutes to set up, the digital tv is also very fast compared to the digibox I have. My main gripes are the viewing angle is not very good, so I m buying an tilting wall bracket to counter this, the fact that to change from digital tv to analogue tv you have to go through the dvd tv section which makes a bit of a noise when it starts up, and also it didnt pick up one or two channels that I get with my digibox, although this might be down to the small aerial I m currently using. All in all, I am very happy with this product so far.

Very Good Value LCD and DVD Combo, 28 Jan 2008
I was nearly put off by previous reviews until I saw this TV on the top shelf in Tesco next to a Toshiba and a Sony TV, they were all hard to view at such a angle, so it's not a Grundig specific issue but LCDs in general.
Having opted to buy this set I am very pleased. In my view you can't go wrong with it. Setting up was simplicity itself. Auto tuned Normal TV and Then Digital TV and the picture quality is excellent. The DVD player happens to be Region-free and plays my Region 1 DVDs with no problem, likewise with DVDS recorded from my DVD Recorder. HDMI interface works great with my sons XBOX. The TV is not all that heavy and has a very quick tuner. It also has a USB port and SD memory card slot a definite bonus. The only minor complaint is the one channel TV guide, but no big deal, flick through the channels anyway, and see now/next.
Ended up getting a second one of these Son and Daughter both delighted.

Better than expected, 27 Jul 2008
The Grundig "Elegance"
I did my research before buying this item, so no real surprises for me - Although I'd only seen a couple of reviews that mentioned that the DVD player is REGION FREE (will play all dvd's from all regions!) This wasn't mentioned on the box or in-store (you would have thought that this would have been a selling point!)
Another omission in information is the PC/VGA IN port at the back (again, you would have though that being able to plug your computer in to the screen and use it as a monitor would be a selling point!)
The remote control is easy to use (once you realise how to change between DVD/Digital TV/Analog TV/Hi-def Inputs (top centre button))
There are also some controls on the side of the screen (Power, Input, Menu, Channel + & -, Volume + & -, Disc eject, Play/pause) as well as a Headphone socket.
The USB slot is handy for playing MP3s, WMA and showing JPEGs and is accessed through the DVD section with an easy to use menu.
There is a grab handle, molded into the top/back of the screen which makes it much easier to put it on its base when you fist get it and very easy to move it about or carry it.
Also in the box was a leaflet that said - Grundig is part of the CarbonNeutral® scheme and this TV will be carbon neutal for one years worth of viewing - A nice little touch.
The Only downside I can see (except that Freeiew isn't available in my area yet!!!) is the small 3watt stereo speakers - They're alright and will go as loud as you would expect for a small TV, although don't expect audiophile quality.
Sound gets a bit tinny at volume, but if you care about sound quality you would add a separate Amp and speakers to any TV setup.
