4.0 out of 5 stars A well rounded, enjoyable book with few flaws 27 Dec 2011

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Entertaining and well written! The book explores the modern publishing industry by tracing the professional and personal lives of four New York writers with very different ambitions and expectations. It highlights the difficulties encountered when trying to balance artistic integrity with commercial success and explores the impact on self worth and personal relationships. Sounds like serious subject matter but the author manages to keep a light touch throughout.

Happy reading :)

5.0 out of 5 stars A very enjoyable read 29 Feb 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Nicely written with a bunch of characters that, although not all likeable, you do get to know and empathise with as the story develops. Excellent depiction of the literary scene too, which I assume comes from first-hand experience. A great ensemble piece, in a similar style to 'One Day'. If it has a weakness it is that the story winds down rather than finishes with a climax or a twist, but I was sorry to leave it at the end.

4.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining 6 Nov 2008

This novel is entertaining and true to life with believable characters struggling to succeed, but not always able to. The chaos and chance of life does most of the choosing.
