Remarkably Executed 14 Jun 2011
By demola
Format:Paperback
I bought this book before the 2007-10 financial crisis but have only just read it. Beautiful is an unusual description for an economics textbook but that is my view. In my opinion, the authors take the reader on a fascinating tour of international economics - a balanced view of competing economic theories without feeling one is getting sucked into the almost ubiquitous right-wing economics common with many of today's text books. Topics include: growth of the global economy in the 19th century, the mechanism of how capital moves globally and of how international payments are made, a discussion of export oriented economies, the connection between migration and capital transfers, trade before WWI, between that war and WWII and afterward, the gold standard and Bretton Woods, international institutions like GATT and the IMF. In other words this is what you're likely to be taught at £9000+pa International Economics Msc courses. Yet the authors' tour-de-force completely avoids dryness. Remarkable. The new edition covers the period to 2010 so get that instead.

Rediculous - NO page numbers! 2 April 2012
By Jhkier - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is probably less of a blight against the quality of the book, and more Amazon and Kindle.

The book is useless as a reference book, it has no page numbers.

The most annoying thing about this situation, Amazon appear to be aware of the frustration this causes and have done little/nothing to fix the problem.

Infact their own FAQ's give vague idea's on how to find page numbers - but its very unclear and only works for SOME books.... This book is NOT one of those books.
