Two pints later...,
By Phil Rogers (Bournemouth, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grownups - Series 1 [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
Sheridan Smith's character, Michelle, is almost identical to her previous role, Janet in Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, so I found this series a little odd to watch.
In fact, the whole sit-com is in the Two Pints style, but sadly, I didn't find it as funny as Two Pints. There's an interesting variety of other characters though, and they are quite different from the Two Pints ones, so perhaps subsequent series will be better as the characters develop. By the way, Olivia Blair's review is for the American programme "Grown Ups" (1997), and not the British one, "Grownups" (2006). Her review also appears to have been copied directly from Wikipedia.

Very average sitcom but likable,
This review is from: Grownups - Series 1 [DVD] [2006] (DVD)
You will only like this sitcom if you can set your comedy standards down to a minimal. While the plots arent too bad and better than some silly ones i have seen in previous series, the jokes (funny jokes) are few and far between. However with there being 3 series of the comedy it total, they do get slightly better each time so this one would be worth watching just to make you appreciate the following 2 series.

I love 2 Pints of Lager & a Packet of Crisps, so that was the original attraction to this series, unfortunately it's not quite in the same league but then it never claimed to be. I enjoyed it once I got used to the lovely Sheridan Smith as the new character, my suggestion would be to give it a try and the characters a chance, it will be worth it, a nice series with a more mellow humour than expected.
