Review

‘There's little doubt Billie's successfully made the difficult leap from teenybopper popster to acclaimed actress. But what's more astonishing is that the ambitious young girl left school without a GCSE to her name, battled anorexia and married at 18 came out of it all as a dignified, warm, talented woman.’

(Daily Express )

‘Billie is a remarkable woman and for the first time lifts the lid on her life to date with astonishing honesty.’

(The Sun )

‘Finally, a young star's autobiography that justifies the hundreds of pages’

(Daily Telegraph )

‘Why can't more stars be like honest Billie?’

(Independent on Sunday )

‘Funny and life-affirming.’

(Glamour )

‘A compelling read, full of shock revelations’

(Woman )

Product Description

This is an astonishingly candid insight into the world of Billie Piper. Famous since the age of 15 – first as the face of Smash Hits, then as a pop singer with  three No.1 hits in less than three years – Billie Piper has won over the critics and the British public for a second time by re-inventing herself as an actress in BBC productions of Much Ado About Nothing, The Canterbury Tales and, of course, Doctor Who.

And that's just the professional Billie. In this book, for the first time, she talks honestly about her whirwind romance and marriage to Chris Evans, about her battles with anorexia and the dark side of teen fame. Moving, funny and honest, this is a page-turning read by one of the nation's favourite stars.

To be honest I was never a real fan of Billie Piper the singer, and I think she is a much better actress than she is a singer (she too would agree) so I was intreagued when I recieved this book for Christmas. As a Dr.Who fan, I loved her character of Rose and sobbed when her final episode finally aired

This autobiography is a thouroghly good read. Billie holds nothing back and gives an honest portrayal of her life. The book starts with her final Monologue in her last ever Who episode. Not only does this have connotations of the show that made her a success but also it is a dramatic reference to her ex Chris Evans who she credits with saving her life.

Billie's book charts the ups and downs of her early success from when she signed her very first recording contract at just 15, to how she experienced her once loyal fans turn against her when they discoverd her relationship with Richie from 5ive, and how the Music industry made her paranoid about her weight, leading to her battles with Anorexia. She tells very frankly and very honestly about how she hit an all time low, and about meeting Mr. Evans, their wirlwind marriage, and how her off-the-rails lifestyle almost destroyed her relationship with her family. She also speaks about how she finally found her vocation in acting, and what she thinks about her two leading men (Chris Eccleston and David Tennant)

Billie might only be 23, but she's packed more into her 23 years than most people pack into a life time. This is a brutally honest account of how celeb-dom nearly destroyed her life and career but how she climbed back to the top to finally find happiness.

If you are a fan of Billie you should read this. I certainly have a new level of respect for the girl. She doesn't sugar-coat her success she tells it like it is. Anyone aspiring to be a celeb should read it. It might be a wakeup call!

A completely honest book that gives the impression of being told to you, rather than something you're reading. It's obvious how important both her ex husband and Doctor Who have been to her (in fact, the "prologue" to the book is a section from one of her final DW scripts) - the first half of the book is desperately sad and you spend it with the same feeling she herself and her character Rose shared - that of waiting for her to be rescued. When she meets Chris Evans, somehow the whole tone of the thing changes without any major difference in style or way of telling. This continues throughout her time on DW, and there are some lovely pictures that go with that section.

I wish there'd been more about DW, but it's still a wonderful read, something that will make you happy, sad, laugh and cry, and change the way you think about both Billie and what you read in the press.

I have never been a Billie Piper fan really but thought I would get this book after reading some extracts in the paper. In all honesty I wanted to know more about her relationship with Chris Evans as it intrigued me (I myself was in a similar relationship - age-gap wise, I certainly wasn't given a ferrari though! ha ha). I couldn't put the book down!! That's never been known of me!! it was well written and, being the same age as her, it brought back so many memories of the "in thing" through the teenage years etc. For example, boys covering themselves with Lynx Africa!! I still spray it when I see it in a shop because it brings back great memories.

Honest and Raw
I read this out of interest of Billie Piper as Rose in the Doctor Who series. What comes out is a raw, honest and real account of a life that has been colourful to say the least. Read more
