Book Description

For those who keep gardens, be it in their yard or merely a window sill in the kitchen, you know that it is a fun and highly rewarding process. A sense of freshness, and an illicit and rare element of nature that very few of us experience but rarely anymore will pervade your home and your own mind as it grows. When you choose to grow herbs you step beyond this to take your garden into yourself, be it as a fresh and crisp flavor that no commercially grown herb or spice can offer, or as a readymade potent treatment for a symptom, or even a cause of a problem, all without resorting to the side effect and toxin laden pharmaceutical options sitting in a cabinet somewhere in your house. Once you start growing your own herbs you will find out how simply easy it is, and once you feel the healthy and tasty benefits, you won’t ever go without your own fresh homegrown herbs again.

Lisa Haynes has spent her whole life learning about herbs and natural remedies from the feet of her grandmother, who had learned it from her mother before her. A long line of traditional wisdom passed down from countless generations to now be passed on to you. Pursuing this inherited passion for natural medicine and herbal remedies, Lisa Haynes pursued a life of helping heal others and teach them how to do the same for themselves, from family and friends, to the community and now globally.

The first half of the book deals mainly with the cultivation of herbs, which is useful for people who know very little about gardening in general, although I suspect the book went into more detail then most people would wish to get involved with. The second half gives medicinal benefits about many well-known herbs. A good book, clearly written and pleasant to read.

Whether you want to grow herbs in pots on a (sunny) windowsill or in a garden or allotment, this gives very good advice on growing the main herbs used in Western kitchens as well as giving medicinal uses for the herbs. There's an excellent chapter on making your own compost too.

As a free e-book you can't go wrong with this one.

I've not used any of the techniques in this book but it will be handy to have around should I need it. Thanks.

This book gives you a better understanding of how natural herbs can be beneficial to you and how to propagate them, methods to use to prepare them for use, and how to store them. The author also gives precautions concerning the use of prepared herbs for medications.

I ordered this book on someone else's recommendation. I bless that woman, because this book is easy to use and a lot of fun to read. A good addition to your herbal library.

I found a lot of useful tidbits in this book. I like the FREE aspect most of all - I can read it, take it in and delete it if I want. It's brief and to the point on many common herbs and includes uses that I hadn't thought of before.
