We discovered this book series about the dog Grk and his master Tim by chance, browsing through dozens of online book stores. My son is very choosy with his books and he does not like fantasy, wizardry or magic or basically stories that are too fantastical.

The Grk books ticked all the right boxes, and not only are they well written they also managed to keep my son inspired throughout his entire year 3. The idea of a young boy and his dog solving grown up mysteries on their own to appeals any kid, and I would recommend alternating these books with something a bit more silly, such as Captain Underpants as the Grk books are fairly straight in their storytelling, although compelling.

The Grk books works for mainly boys between 7-10.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grk books are Brill (Louis, aged 7) 27 April 2010
A Kid's Review
Format:Paperback
Grk and the hot dog trail is all about the Malts going to New york and Tim and Grk find out about a thief who has stolen a very special Golden sculpture in the form of a daschund. Tim needs to battle people to get to the Golden daschund but, CAN HE DO IT???????? The best bit of the book was when a friend called Smith knocks down part of the factory to smithereens.Grk the dog is very funny. This is as good as the first Grk book, it is better than Grk smells a rat ( in my opinion)

By Midwest Book Review - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
Joshua Doder's GRK AND THE HOT DOG TRAIL tells of the Malts and the Raffifis, on holiday in New York City and ready to enjoy its pleasures when the statue of the Golden Dachshund goes missing at the National Museum. Max volunteers to help the police - but he's leading them to the wrong man, and it's up to Tim and Grk to follow a trail of hot dogs to the real culprit in this fun, whimsical elementary-level read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved this book! 1 Dec 2008

This book is full of fun and adventure. We had just come home from a trip to NYC so my son was very familiar with many of the sights visited in the book. That made it extra fun. My son has enjoyed the whole series so far and is looking forward to the next book to come out in January.
