In good conditions, I always wear lightweight fabric boots, so the 1,180 miles that these have covered from new has been exclusively in bad weather or rugged terrain.
They have been immersed in filthy water and mud on many occasions, and brutally dried on boiler tops several times.
Last year, I walked the Coast to Coast in them (mainly Sunday-style strolling underfoot, I agree, but it was day after day in poor weather). However, this year they really came into their own when they took me along the Pennine Way - 270 miles in 14 days, of which only three were not very, very, very wet.
There is now a suspicion of porousness on one patch of the right boots' uppers, and the soles are showing some sign of wear, but their only real fault is that I had to replace a lace last month! Oh, the colour has disappeared from the entire toe area, and neither leather dye nor constant applications of brown polish will restore it.
I was lucky that they fitted me so perfectly, but these are simply excellent boots.
I'm going to buy another pair as soon as I see that someone has reduced them again to somewhere near my target price.
UPDATED 2.5.14: In fact, these superb boots lasted for 1,593 miles before one of them developed a slight split.
I retired the surviving (left) boot and moved on to my stand-by second pair, which have now completed 803 miles.
I hope that when one of these eventually gives up, it will be the left one, so that I make a pair with the survivor from my originals!
I have just ordered another pair to stand-by for the future, as Amazon's price is so remarkable.
When you see your friends surveying the wreckage of their £180 Meindls after 1,000 miles or so, try not to gloat.
ONE TIP: Whichever boots you have, buy yourself a tin of Tripsdale Premium (Expedition) wax. Not easy to find in the shops, but an online search will do the business. Best boot care product ever.

Bought these boots from a store in Kenmare before a trip to Ben Nevis in July '09.
I've walked everywhere and then some in them plus climbed a few Munros in Scotland and all the Munros in Ireland twice over with these boots in varing weather conditions. They are still in mint condition and have been very pleasant to wear, so much so that although I have a $400 pair of lizard Footjoy golf shoes, I prefer to wear my Grisport Storm Hiking Boots on the course instead.
Ireland is a trifle damp, my golf shoes have 6mm tungsten spikes but there is better grip in the boots. There are so comfortable they should be called "Footjoys"
Finally the Amazon price is a lot better than the high street one,but either way they are simply a very nice possession.

I bought these boots just over a week before a recent walking holiday in Wales, so I didn't really have time to break them in beforehand, but despite me taking my old boots as back up just in case, they weren't needed as these new boots were incredibly comfortable. We walked about 50 miles up hill and down dale, during the week and they didn't rub my feet at all BUT despite them being one of the most comfortable boots I've ever purchased they unfortunately let in water around the big toe area on both boots! I would add that the weather was kind to us on holiday, so we weren't walking in the pouring rain and I avoided walking through streams and puddles too, therefore the water came from just walking through the wet grass. My husband believes that 3 stars is being over generous as they really weren't fit for purpose but I was still amazed at how comfortable they were and would have been prepared to try a replacement pair had they been in stock, but as they weren't I've requested a refund instead.

I walk a lot around the coast, rocks, sand... I've worn out very expensive boots in a few years, I bought these boots a while back, they are good stout water proof boot, comfy and easy to put on, the only thing is the soul seems to be hard under foot (I do walk hard and fast, sort of heel in first type), for the price brilliant, I still don't know weather to buy a more expensive pair again or keep with the cheaper ones.

After almost a year, I won't be buying a new pair of these boots, they can be very slippery especially on wet wood or flat stone and for some reason my feet have started to sweat in the boot, sort of damp ish.

Maybe for a fine weather walker OK but if your out and a hard walker guess you get what you pay for.

After reading through many reviews, decided on these! Delivery was quick and arrived in good condition. Straight out of the box with gel insoles and 1000 mile socks (as I usually wear) and spent the weekend camping and hiking in the Brecon Beacons! Very comfortable, no hotspots, sores or blisters...just a slight stiffness around the ankles but nothing that bothered me. Walked forest tracks, mountain paths and across streams with.no problems. There were no torrential downpours but have plenty of faith that these will be fine whatever the weather. Will add to review when the National 3 Peaks challenge is complete early Sept, my purpose for buying these in the first place :)

bought these ages ago and been wearing them to work in all weathers no problem. The real test came walking the West Highland Way and these didnt let me down at all. I always put my own footbed in new boots and they were perfect. Dry and no hot spots a good quality robust leather boot you cant go wrong for the money. Ive paid £130 before for boots and they werent as good as these. will buy grisport in the future.
