I decided to go for the heavy 9lb gripmaster, as I felt that my hand were stronger than average. But on the packaging it clearly states that hand specialists recommend doing more reps at a lower weight. This was said nowhere!!! If I had known this I would have choosen the 7lb version.

The product itself is good and well made. And I'm happy to report back that it doesn't squeek or make any annoying noises.

I climbg a lot and ride my freeride bike a lot, and I can feel this exerciser is the most effective finger exerciser I know about.
The fact that you can exercise all fingers individually and equal force of springs makes this tool really good. Check out online exercise tips to use make a full use of this product. Also, don't buy a black exerciser if your fingers are not strong already. Number of repetitions is far more important than pressing a heavy spring a few times only.

Not only is Grip master a great product for musicians (I'm a musician), and athletes a-like.
it's also a great gizmo for the finger-restless.

I've found just within half an hour of using, the grip master has already enhanced
my ability to play electric guitar. With more complex and faster solo's!

It's like doing a full length "warm-up" or "practise" session, but without the Instrument.
Thus saving time, and effort to get a better result than warm-up sessions!
If you are an aspiring musician, it's a must-have.
If you are an aspiring athlete, it's a must-have.

If you just want something interesting and healthy to do with your restless fingers..
It's also a must have!

All in all ? an excellent all-rounder, that is well worth the expenditure. 5 out of 5!

I cycle quite a lot so I have a fairly decent grip as it is, but I do feel the strain in my hands after a few miles.

Sadly, the Prohands website has been taken over by a Viagra sales site so finding the exercises online isn't as easy as it could be. However, the main one seems to be a full handed squeeze grip. A variation is a full handed pinch using the tips of all of your fingers and thumb. The hardest part is working on your thumb and little finger which tend to get overlooked. The 9lb GM is too stiff for that and a lighter GM would probably be better.

However, 9lb feels about right for me for most purposes. The trick is keeping the exercises going and it'll be a while before it's a habit rather than a chore, but at least you can carry this everywhere and knock off a few reps when the opportunity arises.

So, I have been using it every day for about a month and it's still too soon to notice a marked improvement in my grip, but I can feel my forearm muscles building.

As a finger and hand strengthener this is no doubt a good little product. It is well constructed and works well. If you are a keep fit or gym type then go right ahead - but -
I bought this to build some strength for guitar playing and have to say that my experience was definitely double edged. Yes it does build strength but I found that although it improved my ability to hold down heavy guage strings in all positions for chords, it had an adverse effect on single note speed picking. My fingers seemed to lock up and lose fluidity. After stopping for 2 days all returned to normal so no harm done - maybe I need a less strong model to improve movement but no so much stress on muscles? Anyway - it certainly is a nicely made and strong little unit - just be sure what you are trying to achieve!

I wrote a review for the Blue version of this, but same goes for this one. A truly amazing piece of equipment. Good to have if you work in an office. I bought this Black version first, but found my pinky was just useless on it. So I bought the Blue one to find that my pinky struggled to, but less so. Waddayaknow, within a week I am absolutely owning it on the Blue one, and can do it okeh on this Black one. If you're new, get the Blue one (or maybe the Red one will be better).

This thing works remarkably well and you'll see results within a week without trying too hard or doing it too often.

If you're a guitar player, a pull-ups enthusiast or want to have a strong pinky, get one :-)

When I first saw it I didn't believe that it would be such great fun! Now I find myself taking it to work with me every day, and even on vacation. It's compact and lightweight, and so effective. It comes with a page of basic execise examples. Whether you use it to train for any sport, or just as stress-relief, it's a great little gem which trains every muscle in your hands.
It does loosen up a little bit once broken in, and I was worried at first that the finger buttons could come off the springs. However after 6 months of daily use, it stil works perfectly.
In my opinion, the 9lb option is adequate for men's hands, and for ladies I would recomend the lighter versions.
