I decided to go for the heavy 9lb gripmaster, as I felt that my hand were stronger than average. But on the packaging it clearly states that hand specialists recommend doing more reps at a lower weight. This was said nowhere!!! If I had known this I would have choosen the 7lb version.

The product itself is good and well made. And I'm happy to report back that it doesn't squeek or make any annoying noises.

When I first saw it I didn't believe that it would be such great fun! Now I find myself taking it to work with me every day, and even on vacation. It's compact and lightweight, and so effective. It comes with a page of basic execise examples. Whether you use it to train for any sport, or just as stress-relief, it's a great little gem which trains every muscle in your hands.
It does loosen up a little bit once broken in, and I was worried at first that the finger buttons could come off the springs. However after 6 months of daily use, it stil works perfectly.
In my opinion, the 9lb option is adequate for men's hands, and for ladies I would recomend the lighter versions.

I climbg a lot and ride my freeride bike a lot, and I can feel this exerciser is the most effective finger exerciser I know about.
The fact that you can exercise all fingers individually and equal force of springs makes this tool really good. Check out online exercise tips to use make a full use of this product. Also, don't buy a black exerciser if your fingers are not strong already. Number of repetitions is far more important than pressing a heavy spring a few times only.

As a climber, I bought this for my flatmate who also climbs as a birthday present. I was unsure whether it was too strong as it does recommend a weaker one for repeating exercises but it seems fine! May get one for myself.

Not only is Grip master a great product for musicians (I'm a musician), and athletes a-like.
it's also a great gizmo for the finger-restless.

I've found just within half an hour of using, the grip master has already enhanced
my ability to play electric guitar. With more complex and faster solo's!

It's like doing a full length "warm-up" or "practise" session, but without the Instrument.
Thus saving time, and effort to get a better result than warm-up sessions!
If you are an aspiring musician, it's a must-have.
If you are an aspiring athlete, it's a must-have.

If you just want something interesting and healthy to do with your restless fingers..
It's also a must have!

All in all ? an excellent all-rounder, that is well worth the expenditure. 5 out of 5!

My standards for this product were really low for the price.

But wow! when it came in the post, I was startled.
These are very well built products, not flimsy at all, very useful for building that bonebreaking handshake.
I also am a musician, and when i play sometimes my fingers just couldnt keep up, but now they can.
Just trust me and invest a little money in this, it is really well made.
Will be getting the X-Heavy soon.
REMEMBER: This is a really hard one to use, get medium first as that is better for reps to keep up your hands strength, this Heavy model in my eyes is just for building strength where medium maintains aswell.

Try medium first then move up, if medium is too weak you have something to do reps with :)

BEST £££ I EVER SPENT - I use it as something to do when I am watching TV etc, and because of using this so much I can finally crush my friends hand, he used to be stronger than me! hehe!

Also: For my Elderly Grandmothers birthday I am going to get her the XX-Light as she is on her strength is getting worse, because blood clots from shopping bags are not good!

-----UPDATE-----

I bought this product on the 10th April 2012, Now it is 20th June 2012 and I can gladly say that it is brilliantly made, it is still as good as when I bought it!!!

I would like the get the XX-Heavy someday hopefully, my strength has gone up leaps and bounds! :)
