Right from the start menu when a young lady inhales some helium & speaks in a chipmunk type voice you know that you're in for a bunch more manic movie treats from Nucleus films! There's a section in which women beat up men & other women as exemplified by Police Women. Sexual liberation (emancipation?) is featured & Female Response should please all you voyeurs. Blaxploitation was always popular back in the Grindhouse theater days & an unusual movie is included here: The spook who sat by the door (spook isn't a ghost in this by the way!). Action movies have always been audience favourites & you can enjoy some excellent destruction of property & vehicles in Moonshine County Express bearing in mind that in those days they wrecked real cars as CGI was way in the future. Horror films, martial arts & titillation are also well documented. In the Extras section Kim Newman observes that the trailers were often better than the actual films so viewers of this dvd can't lose: there's something very annoying about rushing out & buying a film only to be let down by the content.
I have described the New York 42nd Street theaters in earlier reviews so all you need is this dvd, a bottle of whatever you fancy (preferably in a brown paper bag) & you can recreate the era in the comfort of your own home!
