Format:Blu-ray
Well to start with, I am amazed that this movie has not had any reviews... so let's put this right. I own this double movie disc set which is absolutely stunning on the Blu Ray version, bringing out even more detailed picture and sound quality (in this Ron Howard film) that is not noticed on the standard DVD.
When watching this movie you must simply let your imagination go and drift into the land of 'Who-ville' (which is inside a single snow flake by the way) and be amazed at the characters and lifestyle of the villagers as their excitement builds up to Christmas day. This is definitely a film for children and adults to watch together.
Then of course comes the Grinch, who is played excellently by Jim Carrey (and if you liked the 'Mask' then your going to love this). I'm not going to spoil the plot for those that haven't seen this movie, but needless to say Jim Carry gets up to all sorts of mischief throughout, and will have you laughing all the way. The makeup not only on Jim Carrey but also the other 'Who-villers' is second to none, as are the special effects and scenery it has to be said.
The DVD contains an hour of 'Who-Mongous' extras but the Blu Ray version has a lot more on offer which is great value at under ten pounds on Amazon. So if you haven't got this double disc set in your Christmas collection, go and at get it now... I promise you all, you won't be disappointed.

I bought the item based on previous reviews, and have to say thoroughly enjoyed watching the film with the colour vibrance turned up on my plasma screen. However, it is clear that this film was neither filmed in, nor enhanced appropriately for hd. In some dark shots of the film colour loss and pixelation is evident in corners of the picture, and at other times, various apsects of the screen present as grainy. All in all, a definite improvement; Im just not convinced its quite blu ray; But then it was filmed in 2000, when dvd;s were the thing of the future, we have moved on considerably since then.
Well worth a buy; And a steal at under a tenner. Christmas is coming!

Watched this film more times that I care to recollect, it's one of my all-time favourites.
Absolutely brilliant on blu-ray which comes with a dvd version and many extras including the Faith Hill video of "Where are you Christmas" which is simply superb. Jim Carey IS the Grinch, and the typecasting throughout is spot on. I play this thru my (Amazon bought) Samsung 40" LED and Philips Blu Ray player, what a fabulous combination. Timeless film which never ceases to reward and impress. Whilst not oscar material, it is never the less a heartwarming tale and one to be enjoyed by kids of all ages - I'm 64!
