This is a toy that is used again and again - it's used as tunnels for train tracks, for running cars etc under, it's stacked and used to make wonderful and beautiful contraptions with the treeblocks, we also have.

There is actually a larger version for gardens too.
Because I am waldorf influenced, all the toys for my son are wooden, and Grimm's produce some seriously beautiful pieces. Also as a childminder these toys are sturdy and wood is naturally anti bacterial. And as an adult I don't mind having these toys on display as they are so lovely and no one can resist touching and having a play. Wood is just so tactile, and the rainbow vibrant, but not glossy, colours are wonderfully appealling.

This is a nicely made product and it is a good size - the nesting pieces are deeper than cheaper options, though this doesn't really justify the cost. Since purchasing this item I have been disappointed to find significantly cheaper version added to own-brand supermarket ranges for example.

The wood is quite lightweight - durable but not going to hurt little feet if it tumbles, plus we have no chipping or scratching occur on the paintwork despite some rough play. The edges are rounded very nicely so there are no hard edges.

It is a lovely toy for versatile play - the pieces can obviously be nested or stacked, used for balance games... plus it is a lovely addition to a nursery shelf for its ornamental value alone.

My biggest issue with the toy is that it is missing a colour! Indigo and violet have been merged into just one purple block. I am kicking myself for not noticing it before I bought it. A ridiculous oversight for a toy that claims to be a rainbow!

I saw these years ago in a nursery and have always wanted one so finally bought it. It is expensive but it is well made but also light weight. There are a variety of activities that it can be used for - building balanced structures, tunnels, houses just as a few ideas and of course it makes a lovely rainbow when together.

This rainbow stacking toy has been a great hit with my 12 month old little boy and I can see its potential for all sorts of open-ended play (especially if you combine it with things like building blocks.) I was expecting it to be 'large' but actually it's fairly small. Upon reflection, that's not such a bad thing... it means that small hands can manipulate it very easily and its light-weight, so no injuries if the pieces are dropped on little toes! The wood has scuffed and worn a little after a weeks play, but I would rather that than have a horrible toxic varnish coating. Lots of comments from friends and family on how lovely it is and I would definitely recommend it. I would just expect the price to be a little lower for what you actually get.
