Product Description

Katie Armstrong, is an American student studying Criminal Psychology in Germany. She has selected as the subject for her thesis paper, the true story of Oliver Hartwin, a cannibal killer who advertised on the internet for a lover willing to be murdered and devoured as the ultimate act of love and self-sacrifice. While researching Oliver, Katie becomes obsessed with his perverse life, and begins to delve deeper and deeper into his past, trying to discover what made him become what he is today. She is caught in a downward spiral into a deeply alienated lifestyle, culminating in the discovery of the video-tape made by Oliver recording the final moments of his victim s life.

Synopsis

A graduate student gets a little too close to her subject matter when she decamps to Germany to study a cannibal in this gruesome crime-thriller.

3.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing And Warped., 9 Nov 2008
By Ms. J. F. Gilby "Film Lover" (bexhill, uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This a true story about one man's lonely quest to find someone to love and then eat them. Nice. The torure scenes are not for the faint hearted and the refences to canibalism is not for anyone who dosen't like blood or the sickening thought of it. There were a couple of problems in this film, it didn't actully explain what happened to the man and what happened to the woman who grew obessed about this warped person. It ended a bit too quick with a unsettleing THE END. Okay if you like that sort of thing but horrible if it's not.

4.0 out of 5 stars Dark !, 10 Sep 2008
this movie is about real cannibal but yet its showing the dangerous effect of loneliness and how it can make you desperate, nice piece of work but not recommended to anyone who can't handle torture.

1.0 out of 5 stars Ruined by making it palatable (ho ho) for Hollywood, 26 Oct 2009
This would've been better made by the Germans. Never let Hollywood make a German film. This film is ruined by the invented story running alongside the true story of the German cannibal that came out a few years ago. The invented story consists of an American student studying the cannibal case and apparently getting embrangled in deeper by her obsession. Her story is unnecessary and the only good bits of the film are when the actual story, or a fictionalised version of it, starts unfolding.

The cannibal's story takes off, and it becomes interesting, but then, we are dragged back to the story of the student time and time again. The only reason seems to be to justify the pensive narration of the absurdities of human depravity as she goes about researching her subject.

Her story never actually takes off, makes sense or gets completed. I mean, someone (who?) informs her they have the video of the killing via email. They ask for her address, which she gives (Hello???) and then, hey presto, there's a knock at her door, and there it is, delivered by Mr Invisible. I mean, what was the point? Cut her story out, make a full length film of the cannibal story, and let the German's do it. It ruined the film.
