5.0 out of 5 stars Grimm Fairy tales fairst major cross over 5 Mar 2014
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Great art work as you should expect from Zenescope (be careful some of the images are not for younger readers), the storyline is pretty good. It incorporates a number of Zenescope characters. Including Pan from Neverland, the Pied Piper, Baba Yaga who seems to be the main character of the first half of the Saga.

The Dream Eater is the boogie man for the boogie men. He is a creature of insatiable hunger. It cannot be destroyed; its whole purpose for being is to destroy/eat all the Highborns or Falseborns. I think it was a bit of humour on the artists' part they have the Dream Eater in the form of an old man smashing, destroying and eating the most powerful beings in the Grimm universe.

The story is pretty easy to follow. You do not need a great deal of knowledge of the Grimm universe to follow, but it does help slightly. In most cases the characters back story is given in a summary. The only thing that did disappoint me was that fact that none of my favourite characters like Red Riding Hood, or Robyn Hood were in the story, they show a couple of glimpses of Sinbad so that is something to look forward to in the next volume.

2.0 out of 5 stars Ugh 24 Sep 2012
By T
Ok, so I'm not the most die-hard comic fan, but I do enjoy my comics on a regular basis. I love Fables, and figured Grimm Fairy tales would be a nice supplement while I waited for the next issue of Fables. Boy was I wrong.
First off, the art is truly spectacular. I really do love this style, and that is the only thing keeping it from having only one star.
The writing on the other hand is HORRENDOUS. I never truly appreciated how important good writing was until I encountered this..thing.
It's clumsy, forced and mechanical. At first it didn't bother me, but after a while it really does get on your nerves.
It gets on your nerves to such an extent that all you do is pay attention to how horrible it is.
I also personally feel like there is little fluency between the stories, and it hurts the overall story pretty bad.

4.0 out of 5 stars All the Zenescope characters in one story... 11 Aug 2013
By Zen - Published on Amazon.com
My review is for both books , volume one and two.
Is really hard for an author to create a crossover story, to have all the characters in one simple story, first of all. This story was launched in 2011 and end up in early 2012, so there is no Robyn Hood or other ''new'' characters from Grimm Universe in this one. But we have Belinda, Baba Yaga, characters from Wonderland, Neverland, Salem's Daughter, the Piper and others.
Dream Eater is a omen that is released to destroy every character in the Grimm Universe, be them good or bad. This abomination takes the look of an old guy , then turns into a giant demon look like and ends up looking like a flying bug. The story is catchy, really fun, but somehow the book failed to cover all the characters, specially in the end. Nobody from Wonderland or Salem's Daughter will ever appear again, besides the chapters that are dedicate to them.
Another big minus is the fact that the artwork is keep changing from chapter to chapter which makes the book to look like a ''big one'' with different short stories.
Besides that, the book is pretty good.
5.0 out of 5 stars this is the first zenescope comic i bought 12 Feb 2013
By alexandra - Published on Amazon.com
I buy all my zenescope comics from my local comicbook store. After i read this, i was hooked. This is just the first volume. I also own the second one and i dont think the third has come out yet.

I've been chasing down all the other grimm fairytales TPBs. Mostly for two reason, actually 3:
The story just sucks you in and keeps the reader on their feet
The art is sexy and vibrant with emotion
And my favorite part, almost all the books from the grimm fairytale series r arced.

There are some secrets and questions that can only be answered from the other books. Always look out for the editor's notes.

This series, especially, arcs with all the other series in grimm fairytales. I do not rlly know how to explain this one without spoiling it.. basicly all the characters from zenescopes Grimm Fairytales, whether they be good or bad, are having to fight or rather run for their life against an eminse power that is meant to protect the realm of the humans. I can say that its like nothing i have ever read before.

This should be a TPB, meaning ot contains multiple issues of a series in a volume.
