5.0 out of 5 stars Great Author! Great Book! 19 April 2012

I really enjoy Joseph Delaney's books for their fast pace story telling with superb characters. He has managed to capture my attention in his newest book from page 2! Unlike the other 8 books of the main series it takes on the voice of Grimalkin the Witch Assassin. I was unsure if I was going to enjoy the book because it isn't narrated by Tom Ward, but J. Delaney really impressed me! This book continues the story line while adding depth to the "Last Apprentice" universe. It is an all-around win. Plus the price is great for a hardback!

5.0 out of 5 stars So intense and took me by surprise! 30 April 2012
By Arlene French - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover
I love this series! I must admit, when I learned that this book would be through a different character's perspective, I had my doubts abou if it would be as good as the other 8 books in the series. But boy did it surprise me! Grimalkin is such an AMAZING character. You learn so much more about him and that she has more connections to Tom that you didn't know about yet. This book really adds more depth to this character as well as the story in general. You even learn of a secret apprentice that Grimalkin has trained, which was really awesome as well. Monsterous creatures, dark mages and witches, The Fiend's head (It's still a character), and much, much more! Plus you learn more about the two lamias witches (Tom's aunts) and that Tom will finally look through that chest they guard in the next book! Believe me, this is definitely worth your time if you've read the other books. If you haven't, I suggest you do. I heard this series will have fourteen books. The next one is called Lure of the Dead. Can't wait!
