I bought this transmitter for my 500 miles trip from Bournemouth To Cambridge and Back, And since i was driving solo. my trip would've been painfully boring if it wasn't for this little fella and my iPhone 3Gs.
I really loved having this device.
After doing extensive research and a lot comparisons with other smiler transmitter, I made my decision to go for the Griffin iTrip Transmitter. basically, because i found all the features that i needed in it.
Features like:
1- it's small and compact
2- Griffin iTrip FM Transmitter is the ONLY compact FM transmitter that has a port for charging while transmitting.
((It uses the Micro USB type-B port by the way and NOT the common type A mini USB one), (I Used my Blackberry Curve Micro-USB cable to charge my iPhone through this transmitter). (both Blackberry Curve and Griffin Transmitter have the same kind of Port (USB Micro-B) ).
3- It draws power directly from the iPhone/iPod, So You don't need to hook it up to the Car's Cigarette-Lighter-Socket in order to use it.
4- It's got the smart scan thingy, which to be honest, was working just fine until i drove by London where it became useless (it's not a problem with the transmitter's though, it's just almost impossible to find a free frequency round there)
5- There is a built in controls that let you play, pause, skip forward and skip back with a press of a button on the transmitter it self. so you don't have to unlock you iPhone every time you need to do any of that.
6- It also transmits songs information tag E.g.(Song Name, Singer Name, Album, ....) to your car Radio-display.
I personally give it 9 out of 10 just for one reason.
I just feel there is still room for improvement on the organization of the menu, on the transmitter's display.
Especially when it comes to switching quickly between the built in iPod control Menu And the Frequency control Menu.
Hope this review would be of help to others.
