Potentially excellent!!,
This review is from: Griffin iTrip - FM Transmitter for iPod Video - Black (Electronics)
At this time I should give this accessory maybe 4.5 stars because it appears to be working beautifully in the car and acceptably in the house. I can only give three because it was hard work to get to that point.
It would have been helpful if the manufacturers printed the advice they give quite willingly by e-mail. Even then somethings have to be left to the customer to work out. I am on my second, the first I sent back because I could not get it to work acceptably - I know it won't be perfect. The second was marginally better but still the background static was too loud and spoiled the listening pleasure. I was told to try a 'soft reset' maybe 3 times to get a good result (press and hold menu and centre control together) wait for Apple to appear and then release; and then wait a minute for the machine to get back to normal. I have done that 9 times and eventually had an excellent result. Also when tuning, your home system and your car radio may have different sensitivities. So the 'clean' wavelength found in the car may have interference in the house and vice-versa. So several attempts will be worthwhile. This is how I had to do with it. A lot of frustration could have been avoided if the notes were more complete or the website had the information. I would recommend the device, but be prepared to fiddle.

Great when it's working...,

I bought this product to use in my car but not worrying too much if the sound quality etc. wasn't all that good as it was quite cheap.
When it arrived it came with no instructions whatsoever, nonetheless I plugged it in, hoped for the best and after turning my iPod on and off a few times it was working fine. The sound quality was actually pretty good and I didn't experience any interference. Since then, each time I try to use the iTrip, it takes me anything up to half an hour of random button pushing to get the thing to switch on, sometimes I have given up and hurled it into the back seat of the car, other times it just works. I can find no reason why it decides to work or not to work. When it's actually working, it's pretty good but even if you're drawn to this product because, like me, you're on a budget, I would choose something else as the frustration involved with this item is not worth the financial saving (or all the times i've been late for work, trying to get it to work in my car for the journey...)

I bought this as it looked to be fully compatible with my 30GB video. I have a sat nav also, so I didn't want something reliant on the car cigarette lighter.
Problems: - 1. No car charger cable, although the description says this is included (previous people have had this problem). 2. DX or LX makes no difference - no stereo sound. 3. Sound quality is poor - if it can't make Sisters of Mercy sound good, then there's no hope with Sibelius. I tried the various unplugging / soft reset suggestions made in other reviews, but no improvement. Am trying the Belkin product instead - will post details.
