I bought this item as it looked well designed and it was well priced.
The 30pin car charger for the iPod was fantastic; it works really well (perhaps the best on the market).
However, the rubber holder which goes into a cup holder doesn't work with iPods
The space in the middle does allow the charger to connect, but due to the location of the headphone jack, the design becomes faulty and the holder doesn't work properly.
As for the tap thingy - I don't know, I haven't used it....

A great product if you have an iPhone 4(S)
I bought this kit mainly for the charger and was very impressed by the cassette adapter. The sound quality is suprisingly good for such a cheap unit. My iPhone 3g connected to my car stereo sounds nearly as good as the CD player (although my car stereo is very good). It will be some time before I can justify spending £100 or more on a dedicated connector kit.

This is not what I expected at all from the looks of the cup holder all you do is rest the ipod/iphone in it. As I have a dash board mounted cup holder I fully expect the first bump/pot hole I hit to bounce the ipod/iphone out onto the floor. I would not recommend you buy this if you are expecting your ipod/iphone to be held securely in place. I suspect the only thing which will hold it in place is to have it permanently attached to the charger.
