OK having gone through a number of cases in which to find one I am happy with. I've now bought the Griffin Elan Folio. However as I was in an urgent need for one, I bought this in the high street at a very famous warehouse for £10 more than they are asking at Amazon.

So what do you get for your money. Well the case is constructed out of a faux (high quality) leather material . On the inside the case is lined with a suede type material. The actual compartment which holds the I-Pad2 is quite sturdy and access to it is gained by a flap, which also acts as the restraining device once your I-Pad2 is firmly ensconced within it.

There is only way correct way to place the I-Pad inside and that is with the flap to the left. Cut outs have been made so that all the ports are available. The Flap has a bend about a third of the way across which allows it to be bent back and engage very primitive flap sewn into the back of the case. You tuck the front edge of the flap into it and it retains it in position. (Have a look at the TeckNet iPad 2 Folio Leather Case Cover pictures to see what I mean.) However and a big however I cannot see this very simple flap standing the test of time and once the faux leather loses its rigidity so will you lose your stand capability. Lastly there is no clasp or even a magnet fitted to the flap in which to enable you to put your I-PAd2 to sleep. When you can purchase cheaper cases with the magnet fitted,(Really saves on battery power) The Griffin have made a fairly big mistake in leaving it out on this case especially at the price it is retailing for.

All in a all a well constructed case which does ooze quality. However a few basic omissions (Clasp/Magnet/stronger stand flap) let this down from receiving 5 stars. As I said I needed this case most urgently, but I won't be staying with it, as on my return I will be replacing it with one which contains a sleep mode magnet.

Does not hold up, becomes stringy, falls apart 27 April 2011
By HeroDad - Published on Amazon.com
I initially liked this case, it seemed good enough, and there were not many cases to choose from, when I picked up my Ipad2 on day one of release. But since I have had it, the threading from inside the fake leather started shedding little strings all over, at this point it looks terrible. When doing some research, I found that others have found this to be a problem to. Do a search on You tube for iPad 2 case review: Griffin Elan Folio Slim - UPDATE

I came here and was surprised to see all the great reviews for the case, they must be mostly initial enthusiasm for the case, but do not reflect the poor workmanship of this case. Save your money.

Excellent! 29 Aug 2011

I have been using this cover for 2 months. So far I have not experienced the problems described by others. The fit securely holds the iPad2, and the stitching does not show any sign of coming apart. I used the same type of cover from Griffen on the original iPad, and it held up fine for over a year.

Good now 25 May 2011
By David Friedlander - Published on Amazon.com
Okay, I just bought the case, and I have to say...I love it so far. I love how it can be positioned like the smart coaver, but twenty dollars cheaper. Which is great. But the only thing is, I hear from reviews that it starts to fall apart after a few eis of use. Not so sure how i feel about that part. But at the moment, it's working fine.
