Not just another splitter cable, our DJ cable is wired to enable the Split Output function in djay, and simultaneously hear both what the PA is playing and the track you are cueing up. With Split Output mode enabled, djay sends the master output to the left channel, and the cue output to the right channel. This lets you cue songs through your headphones independently of the mix that's going through the speakers. At the same time, you can hear everything that's going on. No DJ would want to be without it!

Maybe I should've read up on it more before buying it but to discover it simply mono's the output thus enabling it to be split isn't really good enough. Some may argue that in a 'club' environment mono is sufficient but I totally disagree; you completely lose the quality of the phasing, flange and sample effects built into the superb app (not to mention the dynamic range of the tunes!).
Fortunately I got round it by plugging in a USB device with a stereo output socket. This overpriced splitter was duly returned!

This is the perfect bit of kit to allow cueing on your Ipad when using the Djay app. It arrived very quickly & works exactly how it should +++++

I bought the Griffin splitter cable to use alongside the Djay app for iPad (great app by the way!) and although the cable does work as described the sound quality which is sent to the speakers is not great. This is becuase the cable sends a mono signal to your speakers and a mono cue mix to your headphones (the left and right out out of the iPad's headphone socket is split to create these separate signals). As a result, the sound I get out of my speakers is distorted even at low volume out from the iPad. When playing electronic music which is bass heavy this overloads the mono signal and the sound quality suffers.
So, a great idea yes, and it does work in principle but there's no way you could DJ professionally with this as the sound quality sent to the venue's speakers would be very poor. Great for novices wanting to give DJing a try though.
Maybe the app needs looking at the stop overloading the signal (I did try reducing the Master Volume in the app) but even if this is sorted you'll only ever get a mono feed to your speakers.

Griffin DJ cable
This cable splits the audio for the DJ app on iPad and iPhone. Does the job just fine 10/10. I think I need a bit more practice though.

Great
Had this for a while now and does exactly what it's meant too. Works great with djay on the iPad, as well as vdj pro on the laptop. Bit pricey but easily worth it.
