4.0 out of 5 stars An excellent book that helped me look at my own feelings, 18 May 2001
This book is excellent, it can be read cover to cover, or by going straight to the appropriate section. It helped me to acknowlege my own feelings and thoughts on my fathers death but also made me realise that I am not the only one who feels like this and am not destined for the funny farm! Although there are bible references / prayers / hymns at the end of each chapter, along with many quotes I began to find a comfort in these too. I would give this book to anybody I know who has lost their father. It is not too long, not too short, and best of all not patronising and condascending. It is real.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Book you need to read on the Death of your Father, 4 Dec 2008
By R. Quinn (Ireland) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Bought this book after returning to Spain after the death of my father in Ireland 18 Nov 2008. Still grateful that I had been over to see him and was with him when he died. As is usually the case for me I looked for and bought a few books to help me deal with what I was going through.

I need only have bought one.

Nearly didn't buy this one as it was written by a man and I thought that he wouldn't really understand the bond between a daughter and her beloved father but I was wrong. Harold Ivan Smith has captured in his book the emotions of any child who has lost their Daddy.

The book contains extracts from other books on Fathers and was contributed to by different people from all walks of life who are united simply by losing their Dad.

It is a must for everybody whether your father is alive or dead. To quote Jimmy Roosevelt, son of President Franklin Roosevelt, on discovering his father had died, "I did not realize until then how much I had loved him."

I did realise how much I loved my Daddy but I just didn't realise how much it was going to hurt and how much I was going to and continue to miss him.

I love you Daddy. XXX
