An absolute stunner., 25 Jan 2005
This review is from: Grief Never Grows Old (Audio CD)
I had heard a lot of pre release chat about this record. Most of it pitched by those in our society that vomit engine oil and defacate nuts and bolts. As I suspected this is a beautiful CD. All three parts were great but the Choral version of the song by a Sri lankan choir called 'Soul Sounds' was absolutely stunning. With no accompaniment but a background drum beat they tore you open with a performance that if heard by the general British public will lay out the entire nation's heart. This is no record for pop heads and frivolous music tastes. Mike Read can take a giant bow for his effort. The words are poignant and beautifully aspected by the musical arrangements of all three versions of the song. I cannot remember another song which was better value for money this year or any other year. It will be bought for its power to serve a worthy charitable cause, but it is a work worthy of the highest praise by any other standard. Just listen to the Choral version in a quiet room where your tears won't be visible.
Go for it England. Remember the ability to feel sentiment betrays a good heart.

The title says it all..., 3 Feb 2005

How well anyone who has lost a loved one knows...grief never grows old.
This song's simplicity hits a chord deep inside. We can never bring back the thousands of lives that were lost when the tsunami hit, but we can attempt to help bring order to the chaos and utter dispair that currently is all those who survived the disaster have to cling to.
I am proud of the men and women who came together to organize this effort, and proud of everyone who orders the CD.
I applaud Mike Read, Barry Gibb, Robin Gibb, Cliff Richard, Brian Wilson, Boy George, Russell Watson, Steve Winwood, Jon Anderson, Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley, all of the musicians, The National Children's Choir of Great Britain, and everyone else who might have had a hand in putting this CD together.
My one concern is that the CD is not being publicized well enough. I live in the United States and have heard ZERO about it other than on Bee Gee lists. Once again Universal has missed the mark by a long shot...millions of US fans would order if they only knew about it.

I ordered this CD from England because I am a Beegees fan. I cannot think of enough great words to describe this effort by all these artists. The song really moved me and kuddos also to Mike Reid the writer. I hope it sells well for this great cause.
