Review

When I received a copy of the Grief Encounter workbook, I wept tears of joy and relief that someone understood what it felt like to lose someone. --Kevin Wells (Holly Wells' dad) from Soham

A rare combination: an expert in the field who cares deeply about children and whose personal journey provides the foundation on which the book is built. --Project manager, Place 2 Be

I have spent a lot of money on other books but this is the best- an invaluable book! --A healthworker

Product Description

A workbook to encourage conversations with children, young people and adults about death.

Grief Encounter 15 April 2009
Format:Spiral-bound
It was suggested to me that I read this material when a young boy at my school came to talk to me about the death of his father. I felt I needed more support in order to support him better. I'm still working my way through it!

This guide is an exceptionally well put together workbook that provides a framework for families with young children to express their feelings and talk together about their loss.

When I first read this book I felt a huge sense of relief. The powerful examples of bereaved children's work, honest words and fun and exciting activities in the workbook are a fantastic way to promote conversations about death between children and adults which is often perceived as a taboo in British culture.

I would highly recommend this workbook to anyone who is in contact with/ is a bereaved child. My father died at 16 from cancer. I only discovered this book recently. I am now 21 and the ideas and thinking behind it have helped me beyond measure particularly the notion of a spiral of grief. This has changed my whole outlook on grief and bereavement.

Thank you!

Alex
