Product Description

The complete third season of the award-winning US medical drama. During this series, one medical intern gets married while another is left standing at the altar, and two interns lose their parents. Amongst all this drama, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) also perform some medical miracles. The episodes comprise: 'Time Has Come Today', 'I Am a Tree', 'Sometimes a Fantasy', 'What I Am', 'Oh, the Guilt', 'Let the Angels Commit', 'Where the Boys Are', 'Staring at the Sun', 'From a Whisper to a Scream', 'Don't Stand So Close to Me', 'Six Days: Part 1', 'Six Days: Part 2', 'Great Expectations', 'Wishin' and Hopin', 'Walk On Water', 'Drowning On Dry Land', 'Some Kind of Miracle', 'Scars and Souvenirs', 'My Favorite Mistake', 'Time After Time', 'Every Moment Counts', 'Desire', 'The Other Side of This Life: Part 1', 'The Other Side of This Life: Part 2', 'Testing 1-2-3' and 'Didn't We Almost Have It All?'

In the third season of Grey's Anatomy, one medical intern will get married to a superior while another is left standing at the altar. Two interns will lose their parents. And one main character will try to commit suicide--or not fight very hard to save her own life. There will be multiple hook-ups, infidelity, and trust issues. In between the soap opera-style drama that attracts millions of viewers in the US each week, interns Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), Izzie Stevens (Katherine Heigl), Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), and George O'Malley (T.R. Knight) will also perform some medical miracles. At the end of season 2, Izzie was distraught over the death of her fiancé, Denny. Now she finds that her very rich boyfriend has left her millions of dollars. Instead of putting the money into the bank and allowing it to accrue interest until she decides what she wants to do with it--as sensible Dr. Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) suggests--Izzie mopes around the house in an irritating stupor. Actually, irritating is an apt description for several of the main characters. It takes a leap of faith to believe that sexy, spectacular, and rich orthopedic surgeon Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) would be even vaguely interested in wishy-washy George. Previously, he'd convinced himself that he was in love with Meredith. Now he's pining for his other roommate, Izzie, even though he's already got Callie. And rather than welcoming her into their fold, Izzie and Meredith (and to a lesser extent Cristina) give Callie the mean-girls treatment. They may have rebuffed him at one point, but they don't want Callie to have him, either. There is something very needy about this group of interns who have no one to turn to but each other when a crisis occurs.

Viewers get some insight into "dark and twisty" Meredith's upbringing, as she spends more time with her cold and demanding mother, who is suffering from Alzheimer's, and her milquetoast father, who didn't fight very hard to have contact with her as a child after her mum kicked him out of their house. It's no wonder Meredith ended up emotionally damaged and unwilling to completely open up to Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey) ... a.k.a. McDreamy. Though the show's title implies that Meredith is the most important character, it's not true. The ensemble cast, which also includes James Pickens Jr. as Dr. Richard Webber (who had a long and complicated affair with Meredith's mother) and Kate Walsh as Derek's ex-wife Addison, is fantastic. And it's difficult to outshine Oh, who has some of this season's funniest and emotional moments as she navigates a relationship with Preston Burke (Isaiah Washington), who is far more romantic and traditional than she is. Though not as compelling as the show's debut season, this third year still packs a strong emotional punch. --Jae-Ha Kim

5.0 out of 5 stars Grey's Anatomy Season 3 5 Feb 2010
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
After a somewhat disappointing season 2 of this Emmy Award-winning series, season 3 finally saw Meredith and the rest of the Seattle Grace interns fall into place (for personal and work reasons). After a life-changing season two finale in Izzy's case, she now has to find out if she can go on as she did before after everything that happened, and Meredith has a decision to make.
As always, the episode story lines never fail to entertain and have the viewer on the edge of their seat, and it is a true tear-jerker in some places. The soundtrack is fabulous, with many choices coming from obtuse bands that no one's heard of (with a few exceptions).
Having ordered this at the same time as season two about a month ago, it was terrible having to sit through season two after reading the generic spoiler-free episode descriptions on the disc cases. I don't recommend doing this, as you'll then rush through the rest of the season two and possibly miss things as I did, resulting in having to go back and watch it again.
I would recommend this to EVERYONE, but only if you have the stomach for gore as, although it's mainly kept to a minimum, it is the worst season (that I've seen) so far on this level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Just keeps getting better. 3 May 2012
What's the best thing about Grey's Anatomy? It's consistent. Consistently good. All three seasons so far have not had one single disappointing episode. Not only are we presented with some really interested patients, interesting pathologies and interesting character sub-plots but the characters are actually likeable. This is so rare with medical dramas - there's always one that's just annoying! But that's not the case with Grey's Anatomy and yet again we're left wanting more.

A witty and intelligent show that I recommend to absolutely anyone. I just hope it doesn't plateau or start to go downhill because with a show this good surely it can't get any better...until next season.

Hope this helps.

Series 3 is in my opinion the best so far. Derek and Addison are over! Mer/Der is back! I liked the fact that Addison didn't have to leave the show due to her eventual break up with Derek as I really like her character. The arrival of Mark Sloan (AKA McSteamy) Derek's former best friend (and man who slept with his wife) as the new head of Plastic Surgery is an unwelcome surprise for Derek but works very well with the plot as a whole and I can see that, despite his arrogance and generally obnoxious attitude that he will become a favorite character of everyone.

The main storylines throughout the series are: Meredith and Derek's "new" relationship. George's father being admitted to SGH with cancer, George's relationship with Callie (more to follow...) and Meredith's various Dark and Twisty life events.

Meredith and Derek appear flourish in their new relationship despite the inevitable problems that arise.

Christina's relationship with Burke is tested to it's limits throughout the series due to her inability to deal with him being shot on any kind of emotional level and the fact that she eventually reports him to Richard for operating with a tremor in his hand. The marriage of Christina and Burke seems to come together a bit quickly but I accept that this is TV and things need to move faster. Burke's "Mama" and Christina's mother offer welcome comic relief when partnered together in the wedding planning and the conclusion of the Wedding storyline was oddly satisfactory to me. Despite Christina's heartbreak at being left at the altar and the audiences realisation that she really did know and love Burke I felt that Burke was becoming increasingly over-bearing as a character and often not very welcome to me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grey's Anatomy complete season 3 on DVD 22 Feb 2010
By Anna D
I bought Grey's Anatomy Complete season 3 DVD- and it arrived on time and in good condition, it was packaged well.
This season is just as good as the previous 2, it has plenty of ups and downs and highly emotional story lines, I would reccommend Grey's Anatomy to anyone looking to find a new programme to watch as it can relate to relationship issues with most people I guess. Mc Dreamy is, well, so so Dreamy and Mc Steamy...well what can I say...they have chosen the actors for these characters very well :-) and don't worry, there is also lots of eye candy for the guys too! Ms Grey is doing her best to push Derick away, but when he tries to move on she can't accept it, leaving Derick's new lady out in the cold. George and Izzy finally realise that sometimes things just don't work out, and Caley is doing alot of moving on! While Christina is having a mini break down and not coping with her change in situation very well at all! So much is packed in to season 3, just Brilliant.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic! 15 Jun 2011
Format:DVD|Verified Purchase
I've now got seasons 1 - 5 of this series and found them all fantastic.

Like alot of other people I'm waiting patiently for season 6 to become available in the region 2 format as I dont have a multi-region dvd player.

I'd advise anyone who enjoys great drama, amazing characters, brilliant acting and fantastic writing to give Grey's Anatomy a chance. I used to watch ER and did enjoy it but Grey's is way ahead even without George Clooney.

Trust me, you'll be addicted in no time.
