Grey Wolf by David Huffman (review) 12 Feb. 2010
By Edward A. Gonzales Jr. - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
During the early years of WWII, the United States had only used submarines for coastal defenses. It took the Germans to prove the value of the submarine for attack purposes. Dave Huffman's book, "Grey Wolf" is intensely entertaining, combining historical context in an extraordinary novel of the events surrounding the German U-boat Command during the first days of WWII.

The author has obviously researched extensively in writing this novel. Verifiable facts, dates, procedures, and equipment are replete throughout the book. Each chapter makes the reader feel up close with the experience and action onboard a German submarine.

I can't wait for his next book to be written!

Excellent UBoat novel 31 Jan. 2010
By onewac - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
Although the kindle edition has some minor formatting and typos, this is an excellent book. I am no expert but the author seemed to be well versed on the subject and put together a novel which holds your interest. You cant beat the price. There are some real minor issues such as a few typos ( used new instead of knew alot) and it is justified on several sections to the left so you have quite a few pages where there is one - three words in a line. Other than that overall this is a great book for WWII buffs

Highly Recommended 3 May 2010
By Nigel Parker Adams - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
This book will satisfy submarine enthusiasts and fans of historical WWII fiction. The author has struck an excellent balance between well-researched technical U-boat precision, historical accuracy, and compelling page-turning drama.

Readers will find themselves IN a U-boat, under the Atlantic, experiencing the sights, sounds, smells, heat, cold, and damp tension of the well fleshed out crew characters.

"Grey Wolf" is a must read for any U-boat aficionado while maintaining nail-biting tension for the general reader of war drama.

I look forward to the next book in the series.

Fantastic WWII Sub Story 26 July 2010
By Thomas N. Gilmore - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
A great read that is hard to put down, especially if you have any interest in military history. It was apparant that Dave must have done a lot of research to come up with the factual material presented in this book. His writing style did a good job of meshing the fictional elements into the story to make it fasinating.

I served on a Destroyer Escort, but loved this story as I had many friends that had been assigned to sub duty. I highly recommend this book!It is also available on Kindle.

Superbly written, an EXCELLENT read 3 Jun. 2010
By S. Hammond - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
A friend tipped me off to this book; I don't usually read books on military history. However, I was pleasantly surprised and intrigued by the author's artful combination of fact and fiction. The level of detail makes it evident that the author has done extensive research on the subject, but it's his descriptive use of characters and their relationships that make this book such a great read! I hope a sequel is in the works!
