A mildly irreverent look at American children's TV (though fans of 'Wonder Showzen' will find this a more subtle kind of humour). The premise is that Greg is one of 3.2 million 'Fabricated Americans' (they don't like the term puppets) who live in the US. He ends up working on a kids show directed by his friend's (Seth Green) father (Eugene Levy) called 'Sweet Knuckle Junction'.
'Greg' explores the usual behind-the-scenes drama -burnout, alcoholism, accusations of promiscuity- but the participants are puppets. Green and Levi (who aren't puppets) are fantastic, in their own understated ways. The show finds its real strength in the ancillary characters and one-liner asides. It's worth seeing, if only to say you have.

I caught a few episodes of Greg the Bunny when it was briefly screened in the UK and am delighted to now have it on dvd and be able to see the episodes I missed. This 2-disc set includes all 13 episodes, including two that weren't broadcast during its original run on tv. There are also quite a few extras, including cast and crew commentaries, interviews, a making-of featurette and assorted deleted or extended scenes.
For those of you who are new to G the B, the basic premise is that America has, alongside its human population, a population of several million 'fabricated Americans.' That's puppets to you and me. The series centres around a group of humans and fabricated Americans who work together on a kids' tv show called Sweetknuckle Junction. Accidental star of the show is the caustic, sarcastic, occasionally foul-mouthed, often cowardly, yet basically good-hearted Greg the Bunny. He lives with human roommate, Jimmy (Seth Green), a gopher on the show. Other characters include Count Blah, a fabricated Vampire who bears more than a passing resemblance to a similar character in Sesame Street, and Susan, a massive ogre with a crush on Jimmy.
Greg the Bunny is snappily written with a very high gag-per-minute rate, and well-performed by all the cast. It's a crying shame that it ran for only one short season before being cancelled. Yep, it was the Fox Network again... Hence the strap line on the dvd cover, "TV wasn't ready for him. Are you?" I guess there may have been a problem with the fact that this is a show featuring puppets that is definitely NOT aimed at children. The humour, both in language and subject matter, is decidedly adult. I suspect it may simply have been too quirky for an American market too. But it is a very funny show and deserved a much longer run. Ah well, at least we have these 13 episodes to remind us what might have been.

While the puppetry isn't quite as good as mongrels (adult puppet show in the UK) its still very funny and worth a watch, greg is a funny naive bunny working on Sweetknuckle Junction. Its kind of like the muppets except where the puppets on greg the bunny are referred to as puppets or SOCKS!!!! Yeah ..... There is even an episode where they try to teach the work force about tolerance towards puppets in the work place.

Need a region 1 or multi region dvd player to play these but it's an excellent series, shame the show was cancelled. Series 2 was also made but is hard to find.
