Great product, original instructions lacking though,

My wife and I bought a pair of these to take care of a few compacted areas of our lawn and also we wanted to help the lawn fertiliser to get down to the roots of the grass elsewhere. We too had a problem at first with getting the straps to stay on but that was because we attached them the wrong way round. Once I worked it out they were fine, the trick is to make sure they are nice and tight before you start walking on them.They come with the spikes in a packet so you need to attach them to the base first before using. Dead easy to clean as the spikes are far enough apart so they don't get clogging up but mind your fingers as the spikes are sharp. Anyway 2 week later the lawn is looking better than ever. Great product however the original instructions could do with improving as they don't say how to attach the straps. I contacted BFNT and they emailed some extra instructions which they are now including as a leaflet when they post out the shoes.

Great product - Easy to use.,

Product is easy to ensemble and use. Although the manufacturer's instructions could be better, the additional instructions provided by BFnT are excellent. The shoes stay firmly on my size 10 feet without any problems. A couple of weeks after 'treking' across the lawn with these aerators the lawn was back to full health. Thanks to BFnT for a great product!

Ingeniously simple product,

I bought a pair from my local garden centre.Immediately upon first use, I found just like others had reported the straps worked loose very quickly after first few steps. They were totally inadequate. After reading the comments already posted here on Amazon, I emailed Greenkey, who sent me instructions on how to tie the straps. I can confirm the instructions work better. The straps still do work loose but far less frequently and not enough to bother me. On a damp lawn in early November, I managed to aerate my small lawn in under 15 minutes. It would have taken me a back breaking few hours had I used a garden pitch fork. It's far too early to tell whether aerating the lawn in this manner is of any benefit. At the end of the day, these shoes are a compromise and surely using them must be better than doing nothing at all... The 13 spikes on each shoe are 50mm long and 5mm diameter btw. Update summer 2011: I notice there are alternative strapping instructions posted in the Customer images for this product. I can confirm these new instructions for tightening the straps are even better.
