JAMES A. DUKE, PHD, held several posts in his more than three decades with the US Department of Agriculture, including chief of the Medicinal Plant Resources Laboratory. He is the author of numerous scholarly and popular books, including the bestseller "The Green Pharmacy," and is on the board of advisors for "Prevention." He resides in Fulton, Maryland.

This is a great companion to the Green Pharmacy also by James A Duke.
James Duke PhD, is an expert on Medicinal Plants and has travelled the world researching his subject, has his own herb garden and treats his symptoms the natural way rather than with synthetic pharmaceuticals with all their side effects.
I bought the Green Pharmacy over 10 years ago and the two books are essential if you want avoid being caught up in the system where doctors prescribe say one drug to stop your gout and then another to stop the side effects of the first drug and so on.
There are a lot of natural healing books out there but they seem to be written by people who have taken there information from other writers books and they are copying each other rather than first hand experience.
James A Duke is the real deal and I highly recommend this book.
