Product Description

Product Description

Webrid is a carter, like his mother and grandfather before him. It’s not glamorous work, but it mostly pays the bills, and it gives him time to ogle the sexy women on the streets of Bexilla’s capital. Mostly, he buys and sells small goods and does the occasional transport run for a client.

Then he gets mugged by a robot.

Now, with a strange green laser implanted in his skull and a small fortune deposited in his bank account, Webrid has to make the most difficult delivery of his life. He doesn’t know who his client is, or what he’s carrying, but he knows that a whole lot of very dangerous people are extremely interested in what’s in his head. Literally. And they’ll do whatever it takes to get it.

With the help of some truly alien friends, a simple carter will journey across worlds to deliver his cargo. And hopefully keep his head in the process.

I completely enjoyed Green Light Delivery. The worlds are wonderfully drawn and the characters are priceless, especially Webrid. I hope Anne Johnson will make this a series of books as I would love to read more. Reminded me of Douglas Adams. A really enjoyable escape!

5.0 out of 5 stars Webrid's Worlds Are Well Worth a Visit 30 Jun 2012
By DPG in Queens, NY - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
In this thoroughly enjoyable, fast-moving tale, both Webrid and his unexpected interplanetary mission (the green light delivery of the title) are full of surprises. While the hero is repeatedly distracted by food, alcohol, women, and his own erratic thought processes, he manages to escape from one misadventure after another, sometimes by virtue of his street smarts, and sometimes thanks to the crew of co-adventurers he acquires along the way. Webrid lives in a society plagued by organized crime, corruption, government surveillance, and other issues that are all-too-familiar to twenty-first-century Earthlings, but refreshingly free from interspecies rivalries. Our hairy hero is a strong, hulking Yeril, and his alien comrades include the feathery Stravin, diminutive, multilimbed Zatell, and slender siblings Leshi and Debney. It's easy to identify with Webrid's confusion and admire his spunk as he is beset by one enemy after another and the significance of what he has to deliver is gradually revealed. The worlds of Bexilla, Cheed, and the entire Raralt Planetary Circle are well worth a visit, and thanks to author Anne E. Johnson, it's easy to book passage there.
