Product Description

At 85w this is a low energy CFL (compact fluorescent) helix spiral lamp that produces a lot of light. Think small-sun, amounts of light. OK so maybe that's exaggerating a little, but this lamp is the brightest low energy lamp we have ever seen. It blows everything else out of the water. With the consumption of 85 watts of power this lamp produces 5500 lumens, which is roughly the same as a 425w incandescent light. This light bulb has a BC (Bayonet cap, B22) lamp cap. This crisp white light is a good choice for any area where work is done e.g. Kitchens, Bathrooms, Offices, Studios. Also suitable to help with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). These high output Green Lamp bulbs (45w - 105w) can sometimes emit a slight buzzing noise when they are in use. If you are using them as hi-bay replacement bulbs or will be some distance away from them when they're in use, then you are unlikely to notice anything but these bulbs might not be ideal for use in an otherwise silent room. The manufacturer have said that the buzzing noise does not in any way effect the lifespan or light output of the bulbs and is normal, but we at My Green Lighting wish to make you aware of the issue before you purchase as we cannot replace any bulbs which exhibit this behaviour.

I have had mixed success with Daylight Bulbs. The first ones I bought, 3 o 4 Years ago, did not last long [and how do you prove that was the Bulb you bought with a 2 Year guarantee] This Green Lamp is spot on. I have had it for several months. I tried it in the Kitchen but it was so bright when you left the Kitchen everything else looked gloomy [I suppose the opposite effect you would want if you suffered from SAD] So I intended to put it in the Garage but per chance my Bedroom Light blew I thought for a laugh I would put this up. Well its spot on it just seems to help with reading, writing and using the PC. It does not cause glare. One other thing is if you leave the Curtains open and wait until its pitch black outside my Bedroom looks like the Faroe Lighthouse I dont know if it would deter ne'er do wells I just hope it does not attract light Aircraft.
I am buying more of these for the Bathroom and Utility Room. I recommend these but keep the receipt as I have not had it for 12 Months yet I may just have the best of the bunch.
One last thing this is also the biggest light bulb I have ever seen and I am an Electrical Engineer. Several times when I have been pulling my Jumper on I have caught it with my hand so don't get dressed under it or you may break something. Don't get undressed under it either it may throw some unusual silhouettes.

I am dumb struck. The 65Watt one (still going strong after a few years) was obscenely bright, got my brother these 85watt ones and my god they are bright.
Now there are 105watt ones!!! Green Lamp Wing Reflector + pair of YOYO hangers + 105W 6400k CFL grow lamp
True you could be mistaken for a light house, but what the heck. The Green Lamp Wing Reflector makes a great up-lighter.

Does seem off that the ones you get free from your local electricity utility company (100watt replacements my foot!) are tiny 9watt ones. So you can close between saving money and having dim 9watt ones or having a Bright Summers Day in your house. If you are of a certain age, then its nice to have light that you can read by, easily. If you have SAD this is the cheapest way to fix that. I am immensely impressed with the light on offer from these, anything else is second rate. I sort of want to see just how much space one of these bulbs can light. What a contrast to when these type of bulbs first came out. Just noticed then are meant to illuminate greenhouses :)))

I have macular dystrophy, so lighting is very important for me to carry out everyday tasks. This provides a strong, crisp, clear light and has improved the qulity of my life. It might be too strong for most people, but they do have other more reasonably powered bulbs to suit your needs. Wholeheartedly recommend.

Purchased this bulb to use as a grow light. It is quite large and extremely bright. Adequate for a very small grow. Still going strong after a month of 24hour use
