Product Description

Product Description

Aimed at both the general reader and amateur naturalist, this Green Guide offers a wealth of information on observing and identifying 150 of the most commonly encountered species of wild flower in Britain and Europe. Flowers with similar characteristics are grouped together to make comparisons easy and each species is illustrated with a superb color painting. There is a comprehensive section on how to identify wild flowers and there are useful notes on the features that make one family of flowers different from another. The botanical keys provided are simple to use and are indispensable on a field trip. Informative and compact, this book is ideal for both home reference and as a pocket companion in the field.

Wild flowers 26 Jun 2009
Format:Paperback
Feed up with not being able to tell my son the name of the flowers and plants we see everyday I wanted a small, easy to read guide to carry with me so I could identify them and learn a bit more about my environment. this guide is perfect for my purposes as the illustrations and the definitions are very clear and easy to understand by a beginner like me. The size is ideal to carry in my handbag so is always at hand when I see a new flower. I find it quite comprehensive for its size and where i can't find the flower I am looking for, it gives me an idea of the species it may be so I can search in more detailed books.
