This CWA Anthology is a tour de force of contemporary crime writing, all linked by rural themes. As usual, the book combines stories from well known writers such as Ruth Rendell, Peter Lovesey and Martin Edwards, with work from emerging authors. Some are better than others, and indeed, some of the emerging authors produce the best stories in the book, including Judith Cutler and Matt Coward.
There's a great mix of very dark stories, lighter, humorous ones, unresolved cases, and a number of surprising twists and spine-tingling conclusions. Highly recommended.
