Product Description

Product Description

BrainBox is a fast and fun memory game that does not require any pens, pencils, paper, playing board or even a table! Each round takes 10 seconds so all players are involved. A game lasts as long as you want it to, 10 minutes is the norm, but playing for 5 minutes is great fun also. BrainBox is educational and is perfect for families and groups of friends to play, wherever they are, on a level-playing field. Packed in a sturdy cool magnetic cube box. BrainBox is ready to play without any set-up time needed. The rules are pretty straight forward. You can play solo or with as many people as you want. A player simply picks a card and studies it for 10 seconds before being asked a question from the back, chosen by the roll of a die. A correct answer means the card is kept, if not it is returned to the box. The player with most cards after 5 or 10 minutes wins! The winner may not be who you expect as this fabulous game is about observation and memory, not learned facts! BrainBox Maths has 55 cards including all the maths concepts taught in years 3 and 4 from bar charts and venn diagrams to fractions and percentages.

Product Description

Quickly study the images on the cards: you have 10 seconds to look carefully. Now flip the cards over and answer a question chosen by the dice- can you remember the facts? Answer correctly and keep the cards, or if not return the card to the box. The player with the most cards at the end of the game wins! BrainBox Maths contains cards with brightly coloured illustrations designed to aid Key Stage 2 maths in England and Wales. Learn about shapes, charts, measuring and more. Simple to set up and ready to go, each round of this fast-paced game takes about 10 seconds so players don't have to wait long until it's their turn, and you can play for as long as you like- 10 minutes is normal, but 5 minutes is also great fun. BrainBox is educational and is perfect for families and groups of friends to play wherever they are, on a level-playing field, and can also be played solo. The game is packed in a sturdy cool magnetic cube box for easy storage. Suitable from 7 years. Includes 55 cards, 1 rules card, a sand timer and a dice. Quick facts: -For one or more players -Observation and memory game -Follows National Curriculum maths (Key Stage 2) -Take 10 seconds to study the cards -Roll the die to determine which question to answer -Answer correctly and collect as many cards as you can

5.0 out of 5 stars Starter for teachers 20 Oct 2010

I bought this for a simple starter for some maths lessons with my class. They love it! I can imagine that it would also be fun for a family but most cards are too challenging for my 5 year old. We'll have to wait a bit to play it at home.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really fun! 22 Oct 2009
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I found this by chance, searching around the games on the Amazon site, and bought this one to try to help two of my students who avoid math at all costs. Truthfully, some of the cards are pretty challenging and are better for older students. However, the illustrations are colorful and inviting and I've had a lot of success introducing the game to students of all ages. At every age they focus on different things, which is completely appropriate.

I actually use it more often in my ESL classes. As everything's written in English it's a perfect alternative to the same old games usually played in ESL classes. It's a great ten-minute ending game. It leaves the students feeling good about themselves and with a sense of fun about the class.

I actually don't use the die included in the game. I find it better to ask them questions I'm pretty sure they'll be able to answer. (The point, really, is to have fun, no?, not to have them feel foolish and inadequate!) Then, with the students with better memories I can keep asking.

I'm probably going to order The World box, but this one is really valid and fun if you want to challenge your students or children in many different ways!

5.0 out of 5 stars Brainbox maths 28 Feb 2011

Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I bought this for my daughter, aged 7yrs who finds maths a bit of a struggle. She was initially reluctant to play what appeared to be a "boring maths game" but having played it, she loves it. It has a number of cards each with different diagrams, graphs, shapes, sums etc and the child looks at a card for a period of time (using the timer or not, up to you)and then gets a question based on what they've seen. It's maths without them realising it really as it's essentially a memory game. We've played it as a family with me reading the card out loud to my 4 year old, and he enjoys it as well - they like to compete with each other to see who can get the largest number of correct answers. I think it would appeal to older children as well as some of the cards are too difficult for key stage 1 children I think.

Thought this might interest a six year old, and it does. Can be played as instructions or just something to look at alone. Seems to do what it says on the box
