Book Description

2003
Chocolate is full of texture and taste and it can be turned into sweet and savoury, simple and sophisticated recipes. Above all, chocolate inspires many moods and so the chapters are divided into Magic (glamorous recipes for dinner parties), Abracadabra (quick and easy recipes), Light and Airy (light puddings and mousses that melt on your tongue), Licking the Bowl (for children and birthdays) and Wicked (those irresistible concoctions). As well as the more traditional ideas for cakes, puddings and biscuits, there are also more surprising recipes for soups (chocolate soup), chillis and meat (chicken mole, Italian sweet salami). Woven into the book are stories about the history and myths of chocolate and its cultivation and production, as well as tips for handling and cooking techniques.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential for all chocloate lovers!!! 3 Mar 2006
By A Customer
For anyone who loves chocolate this cookbook is an absolute delight. Featuring a good cross section of recipes ranging from old time classics, children's favourites, to the more unusual - there is something in here for every chocoholic. The recipes are laid out in a clear and simple way, indicating the cooking times and level of difficulty involved. Even the more elaborate dishes are explained with such clarity one needn't be a great cook to make the dishes successful.

My personal favourites include: Chocolate Coffee & Walnut Cake, Maya Gold & Pumpkin Bread, and the delightful Clementine Cake which stays beautifully moist for days (if it lasts that long!)For the more adventurous, there are ample exotic and challenging recipes in this book that are certain to cause a bit of a stir. Having worked my way through most of the book - not a single recipe has been a disappointment, and with the sumptuous photography, this book is a real winner!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! 6 Feb 2004
By A Customer
As a hardened chocoholic, all I can say is this book is a godsend! These original and decadent recipes had me drooling before I even started cooking - the hardest thing was deciding which one to make first! I can recommend the Deep-fried chocolate nut ice cream balls, Jo's chocolate pecan pie, Micah's truffles and the Vodka chilli chocolates - mmmmm. If you have even the slightest regard for chocolate you must buy this book immediately.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent if you love chocolate! 4 Sep 2006
By Ben
I have used a few recipies from this book. They're relitively easy as long as you have everything prepared so you can move between stages quickly. They work every time and look almost as good as the pictures! The chocolate brownie recipe is the best I've ever tasted, I substitute the cherries with chocolate chunks. There are all sorts of recipies for any occasion, including starters, main courses and desserts! The only downside is that some of the best recipes are quite expensive to make as they require a lot (usually around 300g) of good quality chocolate and cream etc., but always ingredients you can get at your local supermarket.

BUY IT!

5.0 out of 5 stars One can NEVER have too much! 10 Mar 2004
By A Customer
I dropped a large hint, and was given this absolutely gorgeous book as a Christmas present - wow. Green & Black's chocolate is sublime, and I was looking forward to cooking from the book; my first foray did not disappoint. I made one of the mousses, which was quite simple, and had all five dinner guests begging for the recipe. A batch of cookies went over a treat, as well, as a leaving gift for a co-worker. Bravo to G&B for producing this fabbo book - any choccy-mad person or foodie who's hesitating about buying it , stop faffing around and buy the book! If nothing else, it makes a swell read (whilst nibbling a G&B bar, of course).

5.0 out of 5 stars Chocolate heaven 26 Oct 2003
By A Customer
Probably the best recipe book ever. I love G&B chocolate and simply had to buy this book. So far I have made the best chocolate brownies ever, a great chocolate and lemon tart and I can't wait to make some of the more unusual recipes like vodka-and-chocolate-filled chillies. The instructions are clear and simple and the photographs are fantastic. Don't wait for someone to give it to you for Christmas, buy it now.

This is the best recipe book I own. I'm not a natural cook, but I've made several cakes from this book... they always work and people are always very impressed. Buy it, but keep it a secret to wow your friends!

5.0 out of 5 stars Green and Blacks Chocolate Recipes 12 Jan 2006
I could not agree more with the other reviews. A beautiful book in its own right. I bought it as a 'gift' in the end I kept it for myself. The recipes are well laid out, easy to follow and beautifully illustrated. The only problem is working out which recipe to do first! I am now buying more books for my mum and friends. Enjoy!!
