Product Description

One of the most eagerly anticipated graphic novels of the year! White-hot comics creator and film director, Kevin Smith, revives (literally!) the classic hothead comics character, Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow. And Ollie's back in Star City doing what he does best: challenging corporate fatcats, bringing down corrupt politicians and battling drug dealers. But what is the true story behind his mysterious resurrection? There are a few people who want answers - including a certain Dark Knight from Gotham City...Displaying Smith's masterful characterisation, brilliantly engaging dialogue, and keen eye for action, this is an exciting new chapter in the history of the Emerald Archer. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

About the Author

Kevin Smith sold his comic book collection to fund Clerks, and after the film became a huge hit he was able to buy them back. One of the most successful and critically acclaimed independent film-makers of recent years, Smith was the producer of the Oscar-winning Good Will Hunting and has also written and directed Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Kevin Smith rules! 19 Jun 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
A brilliant read. I was so glad to see Green Arrow brought back into business. The DC universe wasn't the same without him. Without giving too much away, he comes back with a memory loss. As far as he's concerned he's just come back from travelling around the US with Green Lantern and Black Canary. This story actually took place about 20 years ago. Events are mentioned that took place after this (such as The Crisis and Zero Hour) but they arn't integral to the story and can quite easily be picked up. A great comeback for one of the great super-heros! Kevin Smith rules!

Anybody with half a passing knowledge of Kevin Smith should know what to expect. Good story, excellent characterisation and classic dialogue with some neat asides that put words nobody ever expected in the mouths of our heroes, old and new. In his intro Smith decries those who complained when it originally came out in individual comic edition that it expected too much of a knowledge of the Green Arrow's backstory to properly appreciate. Yeah, maybe you'd pick up something extra by being Mister Class Nerd on the Life and Times of Oliver Queen, AKA The Green Arrow, but it'd be slight methinks. It's a great story which I came to with an OK knowledge of other DC Universe characters, but only knowing the Green Arrow as a peripheral character. After 'Quiver' I'll be looking for older stories of his now to see if he was as smart ass and hotheaded in his comic book youth. I can't fault the art either, though not in the same league as Kingdom Come, it still provides some punchy action sequences and effective dramatic lighting as needed. And the players don't look too bad either. Buy this. Hey, steal it if you have to. But do read it. Nine out of ten cats can't be wrong.

Thank You Kevin Smith 22 Jun 2002

Format:Hardcover
Although I do not own this trade paperback I can comment on the story having brought all the parts in the series and still getting them. What can I say I wasnt really a Green Arrow fan before I stepped into a comic shop in Corsham and I was talking to the owner asking if anything good had come in recently (really asking about marvel ie X-MEN, Spiderman and such like) when he passed me issue 1 of Green Arrow I almost passed it back because it was DC and I had never heard of the character before. On looking at the cover I thought well that is some brilliant artwork maybe I should give it a go. THANK GOD I DID, I was treated to some of the most graphically visually pleasing artwork and one of the best story lines in a comic I have ever seen the last decent one I had seen had been the Batman Knights End series if there is one trade paperback you buy this year get this one I promise you wont be dissapointed. This one got me looking for more Green Arrow adventures which in turn led me to look for Green Lantern comics I now have a sizeable collection of both and I only really started collected Dec 01 go for it you cant go far wrong while your at it get Green Arrow: The Longbow Hunters for early Ollie adventures pure brilliance thanks again Kevin Smith (and my nice friendly comic shop owner for showing me the light).
