Product Description

Kane was the son of the mercer family's housekeeper, until an incident happened and he was forced from the property. Now he is back but no longer poor but a really rich man and he is looking for revenge, and Bryony is the focus of that revenge. In return for not sending her parents to prison she must marry him. She is outraged but is forced to go along with his plan. There are many hidden depths to this story and it was a really entertaining read. Kane is really very good to Bryony and it is obvious that he cares for her, she in return has to come to terms with the fact that everything she believed of him is not how he is in reality. This was a very romantic story, but full of passion. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Greek's Bridal Bargain 14 Jun 2010

I couldn't stand Bryony. She was so stuck up, and so stubborn and self-obsessed, I couldn't relate to her. I honestly didn't even care about her happiness, and more wanted to know about Kane's feelings and his life.

The Greek's Bridal Bargain by Melanie Milburne
Harlequin Presents # 2538 - May 2006
The Greek Tycoons themed series

Home from boarding school and soon to start college, Bryony Mercer shared her first heated kiss with their family's housekeeper's son, Kane Kaproulias. This set off a chain of events that Bryony had no idea of until many years later. Bryony's father has lost everything due to his weakness for gambling and has placed himself in a position where he and Bryony's mother could be convicted of crimes. She's shocked to discover that Kane is now wealthy and has purchased all the Mercer assets and is about to pay off all of Bryony's father's debts under one condition, Bryony must marry him. She's positive this is all about revenge for the way Kane and his mother had been evicted by her father. Although Bryony has little love for her emotionally abusive father, she can't bear the thought of her mother suffering.

I really enjoyed this one. The innocent history between Bryony and Kane softens the harsh reality of Bryony's father's betrayal. Ms. Milburne allows us to see the man Kane has become and that revenge has nothing to do with their marriage. Bryony is a strong woman, who has vowed never to allow a man control her like her father controls her mother. And yet while she believes she hates him, she can't help but see that he's truly not a cruel man and this confuses her. Kane and Bryony make a great match, and I loved reading their story. Great chemistry too! Ms. Milburne has a lovely writing voice that made this story flow and come to life.

I was disappointed on the choice of male model for the cover. Though he is very attractive, he certainly doesn't look 32 or mature enough to be a Greek Tycoon. In fact, it looks as if he was a last minute stand in, as the shirt they've put him in appears two sizes too big.
Very romantic read 16 Oct 2008

She's rich, he's the son of the poor housekeeper...Kane and Bryony barely touch on an attraction when they are teenagers. Many misunderstandings and lies ultimately separate them and they don't see each other for 10 years. Since then Kane has become super successful and wants revenge on Bryony's family for their unfair and bad treatment of him and his mother. He will bail out the family since they are now in financial and legal trouble, for the price of Bryony's hand in marriage.

So this story might sound a bit like many of the other Harlequin stories. The typical storyline. Those don't typically do it for me but this one was different. I could tell from the beginning that Kane was angry and bitter but his genuine feelings for Bryony shine through in almost everything he did and said. Sure he was brash at times but he really restrained himself because his ultimate agenda was not to hurt her but to protect her. I loved that!!! I was only frustrated that he took so long to admit it to her. But then again, she was just as stubborn about it!

I LOVED the love scenes. Very romantic and intense. The feelings they were trying to hide came through no matter how they tried to hide them. Ultimately a very satisfying love story. People didn't have to be constantly cruelly mistreated for agonizing chapters on end in order to show that there were true emotions involved on BOTH sides. That is very gratifying. Great job Melanie!
