About the Author

Geoff Adams is a freelance wine journalist and wine columnist for The Lincolnshire Journal. He also writes articles for wine-related internet websites and magazines and has appeared on BBC radio to talk about wine. In 2002 Geoff Adams was invited by the Greek Oenologists Union onto the wine-testing committee of the 15th International Food And Drinks Exhibition in Athens. His involvement and love affair with wine spans some sixteen years including a two year period as chairman of the prestigious Lincoln Wine Ssciety, of which he remains an active member. Geoff Adams is acknowledged by producers and public alike as one of Britain's foremost experts on the wines of Greece, and his first major article on this subject appears in the June issue of Decanter Magazine.

This book is as you might expect from someone with the enthusiasm to write about wines from Greece. In the world of wine, Greece should stand out among the best given its history but sadly the industry was for many years undervalued & affected by the turbulent history suffered.
Tasting wine is a very personal matter and whilst we may follow the so called experts who are effusive about all manner of attributes the author here provides a very down to earth review by producers & label.
It is a concise volume so hits most of the well known labels but obviously misses some of the lesser known gems.
I have tried quite a few of the wines and comparison with the unbiased reviews is very fair.
For visitors to Greece it will provide a good guide of what to look for in tavernas & restaurants and for those looking to source Greek wines in the UK it will give you a lot more information to base a search on.
