Although some of the tracks may seem like bland mid-fifties pre "rock n' roll" pop or even just ordinary novelty records ("How much is that doggie in the window") there is much more to this album than that.
Ms.Page had a deep rich voice and was certainly a top vocal talant.
Somewhere between pop and country the album starts with a superb version of "Tennessee Waltz".
Whilst some of the other racks are weak in content Ms. Page makes them all a pleasure to listen to, even doggie in the window!
I will be now hitting the browse button to see what else is available from an obvious talant that seems overlooked today- on the evidence of this album that is a graet pity.

If you are a diehard Patti Page fan who has to have everything Patti has recorded you will undoubtedly want this. But be aware all else who look at this CD that these are not the original Mercury/Columbia hits which sold millions. These are remakes done in the 70s which copy the original arrangements. They are ok if you are not familiar with the originals. If you treasure the originals you may not especially like these. These recordings are also supposed to be in STEREO but do not sound like stereo to me. If you are new to Patti Page and want to become familiar with her music this is not the place to start....rather try THE PATTI PAGE COLLECTION,VOL.I, GOLDEN HITS or GOLDEN GREATS.

Better than the originals! 20 Oct. 2005

I couldn't listen to the old Mercury originals--some of the remakes on Columbia eg "With my eyes wide open..." were better. Although this 1970's remake lack the youthful immocence of the originals they more than make up in sophistication--just what I want. But don't bother with even later remakes, after Patti is over the hill!

This is a wonderful album. The songs are still as good today as when I first heard them. Beautiful voice, good music. It wore well with time.

Best memorial a fan could ask for. My life passed before my eyes listening to these songs. I had forgotten some of the songs.

What's not too like? Especially if you're on a beach at Cape Cod... Nicely produced and with a few unknown tracks.
