With her film star looks, soaring voice and a knack for knocking out radio-friendly, instantly catchy tunes, it's something of a surprise that Sara Evans hasn't emulated Shania Twain and become a bona fide global star.
Raised as one of seven children in Booneville, Missouri, Evans was singing in her family's country band by the age of five and performing solo by 16. The inevitable move to Nashville and a string of critically-acclaimed singles and albums followed, with her most recent long-player, Real Fine Place, reaching number three in the mainstream U.S. chart.
While her songs often deal with traditional wholesome country themes of family, God and love and generally feature the genre's obligatory fiddle and steel guitar, Evans has a commercial edge that separates her from many of her contemporaries. This greatest hits collection opens with one of four new compositions, "As If", an uncomplicated rock tune that would not sound out of place on a national radio playlist. Other tracks, such as "Love You With All My Heart" and "No Place That Far" are similarly middle of the road, more 80s power ballad than Emmylou Harris or Loretta Lynn.
Despite her undoubted accessibility, ironically Evans is at her best when she sounds most country. "Pray For You" is sincere, folksy and sweetly understated, while "Suds In The Bath" is a good old-fashioned ballsy romp that would set the most diehard Grand Ole Opry listener's toes tapping. At 36, it may be too late for the admittedly still beautiful Evans to achieve Shania-like crossover appeal beyond the U.S, but her Greatest Hits is nevertheless proof she is an accomplished entertainer with a back catalogue worthy of respect. --Chris White

If you're not already familiar with Sara Evans(for shame)then this album is the perfect place to start!!
Sara has a wide variety of pop/country sounds for her greatest hits.
It includes her big no.1's like the lovely ballad No Place That Far,her big toe tapping country song Suds In The Bucket and her cracker of a song A Real Fine Place To Start.A great uptempo.Other hits included are Perfect,Born To Fly and the fantastic Cheatin'-this song is so smartly written.You'll be smiling away at this one!
She also adds 4 new recorded songs to round it off,the catchy uptempo hits As If and Some Things Never Change.As well as the lovely ballad Love You With All My Heart,the strongest I've ever heard Sara sing and Pray For You.

Wow. Sara Evans. A name I hadn't heard before and, not being a country fan, I saw her album on itunes...I sampled it for a laugh and found myself REALLY liking it and knew I wanted the physical CD straight away. ABSOLUTE FAVORITE tracks are As If, Born to Fly (AWESOME track!), Cheatin, Suds in the Bucket, Saints and Angels, I Keep Looking, No Place That Far and Pray for You..now I really like country music because of her. I highly recommend this album if you're not sure if you like country...this will convert you i promise. They are so catchy!!!! I can't get them out of my head, and as a compilation of all her greatest tracks you can't go wrong. I love all of them and writing this review is making me want to go listen to it lol. Also be sure to check out Sara Evans-Never Alone (she did this for a Jim Brickman album, and Low which she did for a soundtrack..they're amazing).

having heard a few of sara`s songs before ,i thought this was a bafgain , how right i was , modern country ,but with traditional undertones ,buy it

If you like Sarah Evans and female country music you will like this. All good, enjoyable tracks and has the classic "Suds in the Bucket". Recommended.
