4.0 out of 5 stars All the hits are here, great pop music from the early '80s, 4 Mar 2001
By A Customer
The Pointer Sisters had ten hits from 1979 to 1985, all ten are included here. How often have you bought a so called "Greatest Hits" package that missed one or two key tracks? Not a problem here! Most of these singles were memorable examples of the pop music of the time. My own favourites, "Slowhand" (slow and sultry with a dash of country and soul) reached No.10 in 1981, and "I'm so excited" (uptempo, infectious pop), No.11 in 1984, both sound as good today as they did almost 20 years ago. The hits are supplemented with eight album tracks which generally fill the package out satisfactorily without exactly taking the world by storm. The only track I'd skip altogether is the flag waving pap that is "American Music". The sleeve notes hardly count as sumptuous but for a mid-price package what can you expect? At least they haven't skimped on the music. If you're familar with the Sisters' output and want all the hits in one place or if you just want to sample some of the better pop hits of the era then I'd recommend this album.

3.0 out of 5 stars Rather thin fare, 19 May 2005

This album shows why The Pointer Sisters' star waned rather rapidly. They caught the zeitgeist with 5-6 tracks which you no doubt know and which are still well worth listening to now; the rest is disco pap.
Pretty good value for money though; just keep your finger hovering over the skip button!
