Biography

Grammy Award winning rock and roll legend Joe Walsh returns with Analog Man, his first solo album in two decades to be released on June 5th, 2012 from Fantasy Records/Concord. Analog Man is both modern and timelessly soulful, packed with Walsh’s beloved wit, charm and chops; it delivers an incredibly raw and intimate sound.

Product Description

Product Description

Joe Walsh's blues-edged guitar riffs helped define the 'take no prisoners' approach to the rowdy rock & roll party of the seventies. His vocals and guitar work were a call to arms to cut loose and get down. Prior to his well-received service with the Eagles, ,Walsh headed the James Gang, writing and singing their hits, "Walk Away," "The Bomber" and the Beatles-influenced "Midnight Man." All of these and more are contained in this best-of compilation. Along with a healthy portion of his work with the James Gang, this disc also features selections from his solo releases of the '80s, including the sardonic "Life's Been Good" and the rocking "All Night Long."

Amazon.co.uk

Good-natured rock & roll wise guy Joe Walsh not only made a name for himself as guitarist for The Eagles and The James Gang, but he also had a successful solo career. Known for his self-deprecating sense of humor ("Life's Been Good") and his dirty guitar boogie (the pulsating "Rocky Mountain Way"), Walsh drew a fan base from those who were fond of the harder edge he gave to The Eagles. He was easily one of the better guitarists of his generation, not so much for flashy licks but for his rhythmic sensibilities and awareness of restraint and economy. Yet Walsh continued to view himself as an "Ordinary Average Guy." His keen self-awareness and his understanding of the importance of rock in the overall scheme of things was further evidenced in "A Life of Illusion." Even the title of this collection, Greatest Hits: Little Did He Know shows Walsh, for all of his talent, never lost sight of the fact that it's only rock & roll. The album also contains the memorable "Funk#49," "Bolero," and "Midnight Man." --Steve Gdula

This is the definitive Joe Walsh-collection. The double-disc "Look At What I Did" is simply too much for anyone but the very serious fan (and the very serious fan probably has Joe's studio albums and doesn't need a compilation album).
But this one gets it right. Fifteen songs culled from Walsh's solo career, as well as his James Gang-days (although a real James Gang-lover should probably go get their Greatest Hits in addition to this album).
And all the best and best-known songs are here: "Walk Away", "Turn To Stone", "Help Me Trough The Night", "All Night Long", "Life's Been Good" and ten more. No filler at all, and even though some fans could probably point to one or two tracks that definately should have been here, this will satisfy almost everyone who doesn't want to invest in the original albums.

I bought this album only knowing one song from it (Help Me Thru the Night). I bought it on faith and I have to say I was not disappointed.
Its a wonderful collection of great rock tunes. The only problem is, that once you've listened to it you want to buy more CD's from Joe Walsh!
Tracks which stand out are 'Tend My Garden', 'Mother Says' and 'The Confessor'. However, every track is great.

Joe Walsh is quite simply one of the absolute all time greats in the history of rock music. Bought the Smoker album on the back of Rocky Mountain Way in the 70s and have loved him ever since. But Seriously Folks is my all time favourite summer feelgood album, featuring all sorts of musical delights. Would have liked to have seen County Fair on here, but that is just me, and compilations will never please everybody. In conclusion, this is as high a quality rock album as money can buy.

I bought this to remind me of the 70s. Contains all his hits like Rocky Mountain Way and Life's been Good. Ahh! Nostalgia.

Excellent album. Why anybody would carp or criticise this album is beyond me. If you like Walsh or have just discovered him buy this - shut out the world - listen and ....He's really good.

It's good to catch up on music that flashed by me in only little bits and pieces in an earlier life. I can enjoy it fully now. Great music, great musicianship, love the bass
