Not by a long shot 6 April 2001
By Stephen E. Serber - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
This isn't a greatest hits collection. It is a rerecording of some of the hits. The collection is really an abbreviated version of last years "The Wild Bunch". That cd at least says that the songs are new versions such as "hot and nasty '99". The Wild Bunch is worth getting. It has these 10 songs plus 6 extra.

30 YEARS AND STILL ROCKIN' 7 Feb. 2000
By LONESOME DAVE - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
FOR ALL OF YOU BLACK OAK ARKANSAS FANS WHO GOT LOST THROUGHOUT THE YEARS, HAVE NO FEAR CAUSE JIM DANDY AND THE BOYS HAVE COME TO THE RESCUE AGAIN. THE MUSIC IS FRESH AND HAS ALOT OF PUNCH. INCLUDED ARE A FEW REMAKES OF OLDER FAVORITES WITH A NEW TWIST TO THEM. ALSO THERE ARE TWO SONGS BY THE LATE TOMMY BOLIN. BROTHER JOHNNY BOLIN DOES HIS BROTHER WELL IN THESE HAMMERING RENDITIONS. IT WAS ONCE SAID LONG AGO THAT WHEN IT CAME TO BLACK OAK ARKANSAS' MUSIC, YOU EITHER HATED THEM OR LOVED THEM. FOR ALL OF YOU CLASSIC SOUTHERN ROCK N ROLLERS,GIVE THIS CD A TRY. I THINK IF YOU ONCE HATED THIS BAND, THE ENERGY RECORDED ON THIS NEW RELEASE WILL CHANGE YOUR MIND AND REALIZE, AFTER 30 YEARS OF MUSIC MAKING, THEIR TIME IS NOW. GO JIM DANDY, GO!

BOA Freak 16 April 2000
By Dave - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
.... As a friend of BOA, I have seen these guys play many, many times. I have never been disappointed with a performance. It doesn't matter if there are 100 people there or 100,000 these guys give 100% at every show. Highly recommend this new CD and that you see them live!

Very good come back album 4 Mar. 2002
By Richard D. Cappetto - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Its great to see many of the 70s bands coming back in the 90s to reform do a tour and maybe put out a new CD. And Black Oaks CD The Wild Bunch is darn Good. Every songs gets up and boogies and Jim Dandy has not lost his touch or unique vocals. The Band is made up of three originals Jim Dandy-Vocals and Wash Board, Rickie Rynolds-Guitar and Pat Daugherty-Bass and two other's Johnnie Bolin on Drums and Rockey Athas Lead Guitar both fine musicians. With Black Oak they often added a musician and some left and others came, but a core also existed in the band. I love the 99 remakes Jim Dandy...99, Mutants Of The Monster 99, Hot Rod 99, Happy Hooker 99, and Hot 'N' Nasty 99. And I like all the songs on the CD. If you a BOA fan This is a must get.

Know your facts before you write... 6 Jan. 2004
By Robert Dumas - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
I just had to drop in on this and clear up some misinformation about a good band. Mark Pierson's review is inaccurate. BOA covers Tommy Bolin songs on this album and Pierson notes that Tommy Bolin is the former T-Rex member. WRONG. Pierson is thinking of the late Marc Bolin, who founded and headed the glam rock band T-Rex. Marc was British. Tommy Bolin, who also is passed away, was an American and former lead guitartist of both the James Gang (took Joe Walsh's place) and Deep Purple (took Ritchie Blackmore's place). He was an amazing guitar player and remember fondly by longtime Purple fans.
That being said, Black Oak Arkansas is a great southern boogie band and this CD is testimony to their perserverence. I prefer the original versions of these songs, but that's just my taste. There's nothing wrong with this package and if you like downhome country-fried rock with smoking guitar riffs... you'll like this just fine.
