5.0 out of 5 stars an excellent, must read book for any freelancer writer, whether novice or more established, 6 Nov 2007
By Kelly Rose Bradford (London) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
At last, a book on freelance writing that actually gives proper, relevant advice that you can really run with. Linda Jones quite obviously knows her stuff and thankfully for us, isn't too precious to share it.

The Greatest Freelance Writing Tips in the World covers everything that someone contemplating a freelance career needs to know, from how to pitch, the business of writing, doing your own PR and breaking into other types of writing (short stories, blogging etc.) All the tips and advice are delivered in a straightforward, no nonsense style, and give realistic, professional advice.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to kick start their freelance career, whether a complete novice, or a more established writer who wants a fresh perspective on the business of freelancing.

This book isn't going to tell you that you can make millions, but by following Linda Jones' excellent advice, you'll certainly be in with a fighting chance of making it as a jobbing freelance writer. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars I wish I'd had this when I was starting out, 3 Dec 2007
By H. Davis (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Linda Jones cuts to the chase with this amazing little tome. It's thick enough to be inviting and it's small enough to be read on the train. Filled with real-life, practical tips on becoming a freelancer rather than vague ideas you so often find with 'how to' books, it's really essential for anyone starting out. Having said that, I have been freelancing for nearly three years and I am learning a thing or two from it. If only I'd had this when I was a fledgling freelancer, I would have avoided some embarrassing career-lows.

The check-lists are amazingly helpful and, whilst some of the information is obvious, ("check names are spelled correctly"), no-one's actually bothered to point it out before and you'd be surprised how many writers don't...
