A handy pocket sized book crammed full of useful information, 9 Nov 2001
By A Customer
A great Weekend in Venice, this exactly what this book will help you have and much longer too if you choose. It is a handy pocket sized book crammed full of useful information set out in a really user friendly format. The fold out inside front cover gives a plan of the city with the different regions number referenced to a section within the book. Each section then details places of interest giving a brief description and a star rating from one to three for its level of 'must see' appeal. This makes it very easy to use even as your walking round the streets. The book also gives a brief insight into Venices history as well as an overview of it's Art, Architecture, Fashions and the best places to buy those slightly different souvenirs. There is also text on accommodation, eating out and entertainement giving contact telephone numbers and a few words on each establishment. We also took with us the AA Venice Citypack which complimented this guide well as additional reading. You could manage adequately with just one of these publications but for the price of them it is worth taking both. Just one word of warning about this book, it gives rough ideas through out on how much things should cost from Hotel rooms to Gondella rides and from a meal to Venician maks. Take these with a pinch of salt as we did not manage to get within any of these guide prices!
