For short story lovers: 24 Sept. 2012
By Linda M Daywalt - Published on Amazon.com

This collection contains some of the best that American literature can offer in the short story genre.
I especially enjoyed Willa Cather's "Paul's Case" for its psychological insights. Likewise, "Editha" by W.D. Howells and F.Scott Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams".
And Ring Lardner, Stephen Crane, O.Henry and Sherwood Anderson: no collection would be complete without them. "I Want to Know Why" is one of Anderson's best, and your heart goes out to the young, innocent narrator. These stories stay with you! I reread Melville's "Bartleby" in this volume: I was always fascinated by this character. And I loved Sylvie in A White Heron by Sarah Orne Jewett. I am very happy with this book.Hours and hours of great reading.

Many I've read before, but the enjoyment is still there. Good fun for a Kindle reader to pick up, set down, and come back to where you left off.

Great Stories from Great Writers 6 Feb. 2013
By Doug Glassford - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition Verified Purchase
What a true gem of a collection. I have not read some of these stories since I was in junior high and high school where I was first introduced to short stories. I have always enjoyed the work of crusty Mark Twain, the weirdness of Edgar Allen Poe, the wit and charm of O. Henry, and the intensity of wordsmith Ambrose Bierce.

If you would like to view our American heritage as expressed through the words of these classy if not classic authors then you need to purchase this book. This is a book I will read over and over again for the rest of my life. Thank you to the author for putting this collection together. Job well done.
