Book Description

A Number One Amazon Kindle Bestseller (Supernatural Category)

*Please note, this is a novel and as such is a work of fiction, which means it is made up. It is not autobiographical and I cannot hear dead people:)

What would you do if you could suddenly hear dead people?

Recently graduated psychologist Samantha Ball is not having much luck in love or life; she's single, £22'000 in debt and soon to be homeless if she can't get the money together for her rent, so when she's offered the chance to earn some money for a hotline to the heavens by giving tarot readings, she jumps at it, despite the fact that she doesn't have a psychic bone in her body - or does she?

When Sam starts to hear voices of real dead people her psychic career sooon takes off and she becomes a psychic to the stars with her own radio and TV show.

Someone however doesn't share Sam's joy and it's only when they set out to destroy her reputation does Sam really need help from the other side...

Follow Sam's hilarious journey of self-discovery as she adjusts to being a reluctant psychic and discovers that love can often be right under your nose. Professionally proofed by J White Associates and JH Publishing.

'I knew I would love this book from the title, but even so, it still had me giggling out loud. You'll love this book. It's laugh out loud funny, yet warm and touching and very modern.

Mary Cummings - Editor, Work Your Way Magazine

'I just finished reading the book and not only did I love it (every page!) and the wonderful characters but I am writing to beg you to write a sequel! You're the JK Rowling of dead people!

I loved this book, it's extremely well written, fast paced and keeps you hooked into the story line from start to finish.
If you enjoy reading about psychics, mediums, ghosts then this is certainly the book for you.
An excellent read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast and entertaining read 19 April 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure about this book, but after I downloaded a sample, I just had to keep reading. It was funny and well-paced and even touching at times. My one tip for the author: do a "find and replace" on your whole book and change "loosing" to "losing". Just because spell-check didn't catch it, that doesn't mean it's right.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laugh Out Loud Good.. 30 Sept. 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
I knew I would love this book from the title, but even so, it still had me giggling out loud. If you enjoyed the plotline of Ghost and in particular, the character Oda Mae Brown (played by Whoopi Goldberg) who pretends to be a clairvoyant, and then realises she really is when Sam (Patrick Swayze) needs her help ... you'll love this book. It's laugh out loud funny, yet warm and touching and very modern. I won't spoil the plotline. You'll love it. Well done Deborah, can't wait until the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it 7 Feb. 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I've just finished reading this book and I loved it! It's funny, witty and a bit moving in parts. It's definately a chick-lit book, which I like to read when I don't want to read anything too deep or if I need cheering up. It's a great good fun book. If you want to laugh or even just raise a smile, read this book. If you're looking for enlightenment and the meaning of life this book isn't going to reveal it to you. If you're looking for a good read that will cheer you up then maybe this book is fo you. It's a very cheap price but well worth the money and will be looking out for other books by this author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Great, Now I Can Hear Dead People! 5 Jan. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
You can usually tell if you're going to get into a book within the first couple of pages, I was hooked after reading the first page and found it an easy read, it was laugh-out-loud funny but I also shed a few tears along the way too. The main character, Samantha, I warmed to immediately, a bit of a Bridget Jones character but far more savvy. She's down on her luck and needs to earn cash and fast, and her journey to make that cash, though desperate at first, turns out to be lucrative and also very very funny. Her friends in the book, Jack and Amy, her mother and her battle-axe landlady, all interwine wonderfully. The fluidity of the story is excellent and I couldn't wait to pick up where I'd left off to see what happened next. I read at every opportunity, eating my breakfast, on my break at work - my colleagues thought I'd lost the plot as I kept laughing out loud -they all wanted to know what I was reading and are also going to purchase this book. I downloaded the book Thursday morning and read it by Friday night, it was that good. I am going to download 'Oh Great, Now I Can See Dead People!' today. I really hope the author, Deborah Durbin, has more books following on in this 'Oh Great' series as I am hooked. It's a cross between the little boy in the Sixth Sense and Whoopi Goldberg in Ghost. I'd thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who needs uplifting, a good laugh and some light relief from their hectic lives. 10 out of 10 Deborah Durbin.

What can I say, I think this was the THIRD Book I downloaded on to my Kindle. Its a very interesting book. It is Fiction but could so easily be Fact... It tells the story of a young girl who studies and gets a degree as a Counsellor for people that have a fear of Vegetables (There IS a name but cant remember it here) She fails because there is very few people that want her services. She is broke...In debt and desperate to pay her rent, She happens to fall upon a Psychic Line and the lady she is having a Reading with ( her name is called Miracle) M tells her that she is a born Psychic and finds herself working on Miracles Psychic Line and does well on it and DOES realise that she DOES have the Gift that Miracle says she does but doesn't believe it herself!! That is one thing to be Psychic but then she realises that she ALSO has the Gift of Mediumship and is able to HEAR folk who have passed over (Clairaudience).....This scares the hell out of her!!! She then gets a chance to work on the radio and do live Readings over the air LIVE!!...this is SO successful that she gets a spot on LIVE TV!!! She is able to pay off all her debts and earn money but STILL thinks she is a fraud!!!Got me right from the start...... Love it Recommend it!!!
Why? Well i did the work that Samantha does in this book but not as much money earnt so that is why I found it fascinating!! Buy It!! xx

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Premise, Fun Story 8 May 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm really interested in paranormal, psychic stories and write on this subject myself, so I bought this based on the title alone. I really liked the premise and thought the author captured the speech mannerisms of mediums really well. (I confess I have been to a few!) Although I thought Samantha's life took off a bit too easily, I did really enjoy the ride with her and always found myself backing her. I agree with one of the other reviews that I would have found it a bit more engaging if Samantha had been a bit more freaked by the voices - she handles it all remarkably well so there was a lost opportunity for a wider emotional range. For me the best chick-lit I read doesn't have to be all out funny the whole time - the balance against sadder or deeper emotions creates a more balanced book.

I found the romance story utterly predictable but that's no bad thing and I was glad for the ending between them. I won't give away the twist, but I did see that coming and found it a bit unbelievable.

I liked the sub-plot between her mum and the carrot man and the whole media angle (I checked out the author's website and saw the author works as a journalist too) feels very accurate. There are some lovely characters in the this book. I'd like more emotional range but I'd definitely read more of her work.
