Product Description

Diabetics can eat the food they love and stay healthy This is the first cookbook to cater both for the millions of people in the UK who have to watch their sugar intake, and for their friends and family who do not. While adhering to all medical requirements for controlling blood sugar, the recipes are delicious enough to be enjoyed by everyone, even those without special dietary needs. Created with fresh, natural ingredients, the recipes in this book are as modern and tasty as they are easy to prepare and healthful. Among those in the book are Chilli and Honey Chicken Wings, Fettuccini with Lemon and Salmon, Yoghurt Roast Lamb, Mixed Pepper Couscous, Apricot & Apple Tarte Tatin, Chilled Lemon & Lime Souffle, Walnut Layer Cake. Many have been specially formulated for those with late-onset diabetes: the dishes deliver both a controlled amount of glucose and a large amount of essential nutrients. All menu categories - from appetisers to desserts - are included plus there are substantial chapters on breakfast and snack foods - which are vitally important in maintaining healthy blood glucose levels.

Every recipe is accompanied by a complete nutritional profile and there is the most up-to-date advice on diabetes exchanges.

This book succeeds in its phylosophy of providing attractive healthy meals, which can be enjoyed by both diabetics and non-diabetics equally.
The insructions are clear and easy to follow, the photographs are excellent and make the food look really inviting.
It does fail, however, in that that there is a lack of nutritional information with each recipe -it is very frustrating when trying to balance a menu to have to turn to the back of the book to find this out.
The book is also more expensive than some of its competition e.g. Diabetes Cookbook by Diabetes UK...
